    Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

     

    Responsible for the technical data management across a platform, system or application supporting a business-critical process. Responsible for executing the policies, standards, and best practices. Responsible for technical onboarding metadata and data management controls across technical systems.

    Technical Lineage Management:

    a. Technically implement business lineage for CDEs – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.

    b. Technically onboard new data flows for corresponding CDE lineage – collaborate with Business Data Stewards and Divisional Chief Information Officer delegates.

    c. Technically validate data sources – collaborate with Business Data Stewards and Divisional Chief Information Officer delegates.

    d. Perform technical lineage traceability mapping - collaborate with Business Data Stewards.

    e. Technically execute lineage change requests – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.

    f. Adhere to and follow all applicable policies and procedures; proactively escalate issues and risks to senior leadership's attention.

    g. Provide and/or present reoccurring CDE lineage update reports, as directed – collaborate with PMO resources.

    h. Practice continuous process improvement by developing ways to assess and maximize opportunities for performing job functions more efficiently.

    i. Support development of new product features and analytical tools as required.

    j. Share lineage knowledge and tool acumen with Business Data Stewards

    Relationship Management

    a. Manage relationships with the Business Data Stewards, sharing lineage knowledge and supporting new requests.

    b. Partner with Technical Data Stewards across data management products, looking for synergies across products.

    Product Management

    a. Plan, promote, manage and coordinate activities for lineage products and ensure synergy with related data management product managers to meet objectives.

    b. Manage product direction through ongoing assessment: current capabilities / integrations vs business requirements.

    c. Support development of new products and/or extensions as required.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

     

    1. Responsibilities include implementing and maintaining data management and governance controls across a technical system, platform and application supporting business critical processes and the associated critical data elements (CDEs) that support them.

    2. Business Metadata Management:

    a. Technically onboard new CDEs that are specific to corresponding Business Unit or Corporate Group – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.

    b. Technically implement business metadata across CDEs.

    c. Technically execute CDE change requests – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.

    d. Perform technical traceability mapping - collaborate with Business Data Steward.

    e. Technically validate and certify trusted sources – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.

    3. Data Quality:

    a. Technically implement Data Quality rules and standards for CDEs.

    b. Collaborate and coordinate with Data Quality Lead and team, Data Quality Issues Management Group, and Data Domain Working Group to align Data Quality rules and standards for corresponding Business Unit or Corporate Group with enterprise-level Data Quality rules and standards – collaborate with Data Quality COE Lead and team, Data Quality Issues Management Group and Data Domain Working Group.

    c. Operational oversight of Data Quality rule execution.

    d. Technically track data issues and risks, and develop associated mitigation strategies for corresponding Business Unit or Corporate Group.

    e. Participate in Data Quality Issue Management Group and provide Corporate Group- or Business Unit-specific information – collaborate with Data Quality Issue Management Group.

    f. As member of Data Quality Issue Management Group and/or Data Domain Working Group, escalate Data Quality issues and considerations as necessary to the Enterprise Data Governance Council – collaborate with Enterprise Data Governance Council.

    g. Assist in resolving Data Quality Issues, either as part of Business Unit / Corporate Group or as part of the Data Quality Issue Management Group or as part of the Data Domain Working Group – collaborate with Data Quality Issue Management Group; Data Domain Working Group.

    4. Enterprise Metadata Repository / Metadata Catalogue:

    a. Technically onboard new CDEs’ related business metadata – collaborate with Metadata COE.

    b. Technically update central metadata repository with business metadata content (business terms, definitions, classifications, and business and Data Quality rules) – collaborate with Metadata COE and Business Data Stewards.

    c. Discover and execute CDE metadata update requests – collaborate with Metadata COE.

    d. Technically implement CDE metadata change requests approved with Data Domain Working Group – collaborate with Data Domain Working Group.

    5. Data Privacy, Classification, Retention and Archiving:

    a. Technically implement Data Privacy rules in partnership with the Business Data Steward.

    b. Partner for technical implementation for defining archiving, retention, and data destruction requirements for CDEs for corresponding Business Unit or Corporate functions in collaboration with the CDAO and Chief Privacy Officer.

    c. Technically monitor data classification for data elements for corresponding Business Unit or Corporate Group.

    d. Technically implement data monitoring for alignment with national and regional laws, rules, regulations as well as with corporate ethical standards.

    6. Data Sharing, Access Control and Data Transfer:

    a. Partner to technically implement and maintain Data Sharing Agreements.

    b. Ensure technical implementation and monitoring across CDE’s shared across multiple business units/corporate functions.

    c. Technically monitor data classification for data elements across systems, applications and platforms.

    d. Report or escalate data privacy issues to Data Privacy Group – collaborate with Chief Privacy Officer and team.

    e. Technically monitor data for alignment with national and regional laws, rules, and regulations as well as with corporate ethical standards.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Qualifications:

    1. Equivalent combination of advanced education and related experience, which could include any combination of: 3-5 years’ experience managing software engineers and systems analysts.

    2. Ability to translate enterprise level strategic planning information into software and data management needs, create business plans, and turn them into effective business solutions.

    3. Management level communications skills, including, strong negotiation/facilitation/presentation skills and experience negotiating with vendors for relevant products and services.

    4. Knowledge of current and emerging application software products and tools

    5. Project management experience to include multi-million dollar projects completed on time, within budget and delivering quality results

    6. Strong analytical and architectural skills

    7. Ability to manage a high volume of internal client relationships

    8. Knowledge of all phases of software engineering life cycle and experience with process improvement models

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

    2. Knowledge of data management tools (e.g. Manta, Alation)

    3. Knowledge of Data and Analytics including emerging trends

    4. Understanding of banking operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

    5. Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    6. Project management experience.

    7. Familiarity with machine learning, data analytics, and artificial intelligence in financial institutions

    8. Banking or financial services experience.
