    Are you a recent Master of Library Science (MLS) graduate? Are you eager to engage with our community and make a meaningful impact in academic librarianship?

     

    The University Libraries is seeking a Campus Partner Assistant Librarian to join our collaborative team in s upporting the Texas A&M Health and School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) in Bryan/College Station, Texas . This entry-level role is perfect for someone who thrives in collaborative environments, enjoys engaging with communities, and is excited to grow professionally.

     

    You'll be at the forefront of engaging with our Texas A&M Health and VMBS communities , stepping into classrooms (both in-person and virtually), and teaching students from eager undergraduates to seasoned graduate researchers. Y ou'll provide essential instruction and consultations, covering critical topics like effective searching strategies, finding quality evidence, critical appraisal of resources, and citation management. If you ha ve teaching ex per ience, t hat's a huge plus! But if you don't , an eagerness to learn and develop your instructional skills is just as valuable.

    Opportunities to Contribute

    + Provides instruction and consultations to students, faculty, researchers, and staff at Texas A&M Health schools and VMBS virtually and at the BCS campuses.

    + Develops instructional content that fosters engagement and supports learning objectives .

    + Provides searching support for research proposals and grants, clinical practice decisions, education, instruction, and scholarly dissemination.

    + Incorporates emerging research and curricular trends within health sciences, academic librarianship, and competency-based education into instruction practices.

    + Collaborates with U niversity L ibraries colleagues, Texas A&M Health, VMBS, and clinical affiliates to enhance library partnerships and contribute to education , research, and clinical missions.

    + Delivers excellent research and education programs with a high level of customer service for students, faculty, and staff.

    + Partners with Collections & Access Services, colleagues, and other stakeholders to support academic programs and research by promoting awareness and use of library resources.

    + Anticipates and helps to assess users’ evolving information needs and expectations to inform acquisitions, development, discoverability, and access.

    + Provides service in the integration of new technologies into library services.

    + Maintains awareness of changes to resources and participates in training to develop expertise in new and existing resources.

    + Participates in professional organizations and scholarly activities to incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services and programs.

     

    Salary: $62,900 Annually

     

    Please Note: The successful candidate for this position can expect to work onsite Monday through Friday in Bryan/College Station, Texas as a valuable contributor to the campus community.

    Qualifications

    + Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Valid driver’s license.

    A well-qualified candidate will also possess :

    + Master’s degree from American Library Association (ALA) accredited program.

    + Coursework in expert searching, instructional design, health information management, medical informatics, health research, health information, or health education.

    + Two years of research and/or education experience at an academic health sciences library, specialty library, or hospital setting.

    + Teaching evidence-based principles to professional and/or graduate students, and/or faculty.

    + Knowledge of library resources and services for a medical or nursing school with a clinical and research client base.

    + Ability to conduct reference interviews.

    + Ability to use online resources to locate relevant health related information.

    + Knowledge of conducting searches in biomedical databases .

    + Knowledge of academic library functions and current trends in health science librarianship.

    + Knowledge of work processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

    + Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities.

    + Ability to take initiative, exercise independent judgement , and manage conflicts .

    + Confidence in public speaking and representing the libraries .

    + Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
