    Job Summary:

    Performs as a member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of optimal nutrition care and education for patients of all ages. Nutrition care includes the Nutrition Care Process, routinely performing Nutrition Focused Physical Assessments to identify degree of malnutrition, order writing privileges including enteral feeds and oral supplements, coordinating high risk medication administration of parenteral nutrition.

     

    + Utilizes the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) as recommended by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and in accordance with the Standards of Care Guidelines for Nutrition Screening & Assessment from Mercy Health daily.

    + Accurately perform Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment during the NCP to Identify, Evaluate, and Treat Adult Malnutrition of various degrees (according to Mercy Health Policy & Procedure) daily.

    + Calculates, monitors, initiates, and adjusts (according to Mercy Health Policy & Procedures and Ohio State Law regarding the role of Licensed Dietitians) medical nutrition therapy including diet modification, oral supplements, nutrition support including enteral feeds, and macronutrients of parenteral nutrition daily.

    + Facilitates medical nutrition therapy education opportunities as needed to patients, families, and community daily. Includes reviewing and revising education materials.

    + Serves as a nutrition expert to healthcare professionals (interdisciplinary involvement) in establishing standards of patient care by participating in clinical and interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, task forces, and projects daily.

    + Participates in performance improvement programs related to patient care & service including research, development of clinical pathways in assigned area(s) of responsibilities/unit/department/facility committees, as well as internal chart audits.

    + Maintains high level of competency and professional development related to nutrition trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice. Participates in development of performance objectives with emphasis on an area of specialization as appropriate

    + Educate and precept dietetic interns and students as assigned.

    Requirements:

    4 year Bachelor's Degree Required

     

    Licensed Dietitian (LD) within the State of Ohio or Limited Permit (when applicable) from the State of Ohio Medical Board;

     

    Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with Commission on Dietetic Registration or eligible to sit for the Registration Exam

     

    Earned specialty certification: Renal Nutrition; Oncology Nutrition; Geriatric Nutrition; Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE); Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC
