Position PurposeThe transportation paraprofessional will assist the educational process by assisting the transportation of students in a safe, orderly, and timely manner. Additional hours may be available for lunch and recess duties at an elementary school in addition to hours for the transportation paraprofessional if interested. Essential Job Functions
+ Assists students to seats and appropriately secures students in child restraint systems and wheelchair restraint systems if necessary.
+ Assists driver with maintaining discipline on the bus.
+ Assists driver with emergency bus evacuation if necessary.
+ Provides information on the bus route to substitute drivers on an as needed basis.
+ Understands and abides by confidentiality mandates.
+ Assists students as needed.
+ Understands and is able to use the wheelchair lift on the bus as needed.
+ Maintains data on students as required.
+ Fosters effective communication with students, parents, and other staff members.
+ Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervising staff.
