Cost Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Orlando, Florida. This role is integral in managing cost analysis, inventory accuracy, and financial reporting within the defense manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of cost accounting principles to drive operational efficiency and financial performance.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough reviews of standard and actual costs to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Analyze product, program, and facility margins to identify cost drivers and recommend improvements.
• Identify variances in costs and propose actionable solutions to optimize processes.
• Oversee inventory budget planning and rolling forecast development.
• Manage updates to standard costs within the company's ERP system.
• Reconcile balances for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory.
• Investigate discrepancies in inventory and resolve cycle count variances.
• Validate cost of goods sold during month-end closing procedures.
• Prepare detailed internal cost reports and performance summaries.
• Collaborate with program managers to create and refine program budgets, including tracking budget-to-actual results. Requirements
• Bachelor's degree required, Finance or Accounting preferred. Preference for MBA, CPA or CMA.
• Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in standard cost accounting practices and principles.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in cost analysis and variance identification.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, including managing inventory and cost updates.
• Ability to prepare accurate financial reports related to inventory and cost accounts.
• Experience with budgeting processes and tracking performance against estimates.
• Knowledge of government program cost reconciliation and reporting.
