    STGi is currently seeking a Laundry staff to provide services at The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home.

     

    The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home is located in Temple, TX. Our staff provides compassionate and specialized care to our nation's veterans. We focus on providing the best experience for residents and their families.

     

    JOB SUMMARY: To support the effective operation of the community’s laundry department by effectively meeting the needs of the residents and community.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Follow oral and written instructions.

    2. Adhere to Hazardous Communication policies and procedures including using PPE as required.

    3. Follow schedules for the laundry department.

    4. Follow laundry procedures in accordance with Community policy.

    5. Ironing duties as assigned.

    6. Follow waste disposal procedures in accordance with Community policy.

    7. Properly use and care for laundry equipment.

    8. Adjust water temperature valves to maintain required temperatures.

    9. Use laundry supplies efficiently properly.

    10. Operate automated laundry solution dispensing system.

    11. Handle clean and soiled laundry appropriately.

    12. Identify and report garments or linens in ill repair to supervisor.

    13. Sort and distribute clothing to residents’ rooms in a manner to prevent loss.

    14. Identify and report to supervisor any equipment malfunction.

    15. Follow infection control procedures through proper handling, storage, washing and transporting of all garment and linens.

    16. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.

    17. Observe infection control procedures.

    18. Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times.

    19. Observe all Community policies and procedures.

    20. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents’ representatives, Community team members, and all visitors.

    21. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

    22. Laundry area is kept clean, neat and free of odors. Lint baskets are cleaned frequently throughout the day.

    23. Efficient use of supplies and resources

    24. Ensuring laundry and linens are returned to the correct owner

    25. Assigned area is stocked properly and timely

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    One year of commercial laundry experience preferred.

    Required Experience

    REQUIRED EDUCATION:

    High school diploma or GED required.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The physical demands and work environment described herein is a representative of those that generally must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

    • This position primarily involves standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing and pulling (typical weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 30 lbs., approximately), and lifting (minimum weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 40 lbs., approximately).

    • The position requires repetitive finger movements as well as hearing and talking on the phone and in person.

    • Must be able to continuously deal effectively with stress created by residents, multiple tasks, noises, interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a pleasant attitude.
