Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description

Join a dynamic team dedicated to innovation and customization in the metal casting industry. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in engineering custom equipment for foundries across the U.S. and internationally. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with both internal teams and customers, enjoying variety and solving complex problems.

Responsibilities

+ Manage projects from design through installation.

+ Design mechanical systems using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

+ Create and review drawings and bills of materials (BOMs).

+ Support sales with technical input and cost projections.

+ Provide direct technical support to customers and service teams.

+ Conduct research and development for new products and drive standardization.

+ Perform cost analysis and ensure profitability.

Essential Skills

+ 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience.

+ Proficiency in SolidWorks and ERP systems, preferably SAP.

+ Experience with PDM software, preferably Vault.

+ Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a related field.

+ Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

+ Ability to manage multiple projects independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with mixing sand heaters.

+ Familiarity with pneumatics and controls to communicate effectively with the controls team.

+ Hydraulics knowledge is a bonus.

+ Experience with heavy capital equipment is highly beneficial.

Work Environment

This role is based in a small, family-oriented company with a low-pressure atmosphere, promoting balance and well-being. You will work 40 hours a week, with a flexible schedule typically between 7:00 AM – 3:00/4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. The engineering team consists of 8 members, including 3 controls engineers, 4 mechanical engineers, and 1 engineering manager. The company has a total headcount of approximately 30. You will spend 90% of your time desk-based, focusing 80–85% of your time on SolidWorks and BOM creation, with the remaining time on emails, customer communication, and engineering collaboration. The office is located on the 2nd floor, with occasional visits to the fab shop which is not climate-controlled. This is a 100% onsite role.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr.
