Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the financial aid assistant is responsible for providing daily financial aid support and counseling to current and prospective students and their families and assisting them in determining their need and eligibility for aid programs. This includes the interpretation and application of regulations on state, federal, and institutional financial aid programs administered by SUNY Poly. The financial aid assistant is a member of the enrollment management team and is expected to foster a culture of quality service that maximizes access, student support and student success.
+ Administer and oversee all activities as they pertain to student and parent loan programs including: Federal Direct Loan program, Parent PLUS loan program, Graduate PLUS loan program, private loans. Activities include determination of eligibility, entrance and promissory note completion, origination, disbursement, certification, reconciliation and exit counseling. This also includes: the facilitation of relevant data file transfers as needed with multiple external agencies (federal and state); working with admissions to review aid packages and modify loan levels as needed upon completion of transfer credit evaluations. Perform transfer monitoring of transfer students for the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). Continued cross-training on vital areas within the financial aid office.
+ Provide financial aid support and counseling to current and prospective students and their families in-person, by phone, by email and virtually.
+ Develop and maintain a thorough, up-to-date working knowledge of federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations, policies and procedures.
+ Administer the financial aspects of the Opportunity Programs; Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) including review of applicant financial information, renewals, troubleshooting and compliance with the EOP and ACE program guidelines.
+ Oversee and administer all aspects of the College Work Study program in conjunction with the Offices of Career Services and Human Resources.
+ Represent the Financial Aid Office at both on and off-campus recruitment events and programs. Other reasonable duties as assigned.
+ May supervise student assistants and/ or college work study students

Salary Range: $51,000 - $55,000

Minimum Requirements:
+ A Bachelor's degree from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
+ One to three years of experience working in higher education or a related field.
+ Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
+ Detail oriented with the ability to accurately follow multi-sequenced task instructions.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
