Patient Care Tech - Behavioral Health

Responsibilities:
+ Assist patients with procedures and activities of daily living (ADLs).
+ Provide feedback to RN and report patient status changes.
+ Participate in unit activities: respond to call lights, pass meal trays, transport patients.
+ Receive feedback constructively and identify learning needs; engage in self-improvement.
+ Educate patients and families under RN supervision.
+ Apply, monitor, and remove patient restraints per protocol.
+ Maintain professional, respectful relationships and support workplace safety.
+ Adhere strictly to policies, procedures, and safety standards.
+ Support departmental projects, quality initiatives, and suggest improvements.
+ Document care accurately and complete clerical duties as assigned
+ High school diploma or GED required.
+ Must meet one of the following:
+ Minimum 1 year of general healthcare experience, OR
+ At least 6 months as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency completed within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion, OR
+ Currently enrolled in a PT/OT/PA or related healthcare program with at least one clinical rotation completed, OR
+ Bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field.
+ Successful completion of UPMC Patient Care Technician class and eRecord training required **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire ACLS preferredCCM
