Summary The Supervisory Supply Management Specialist (Assistant Chief of Supply Chain Officer) serves as the senior supply chain management officer for VA Healthcare System in Miami. This position is second to the Facility Chief Supply Officer (FCSCO) and is assigned continuing responsibility for managing a major part of the Logistics Service in the Supply Chain Management (SCM) program with the direction and opinion of this role having the same authority given to the Service Chief. Responsibilities Major duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to: Oversee, guides, manages and integrates medical supply chain operations across the organization. Plans and coordinates fiscal, acquisition, clinical and administrative operations. Establishes, monitors and manages the performance and measurement of logistics functions for all aspects of the supply chain. Conducts logistics audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews. Plans and manages all levels of medical supply chain activities involved in sourcing, procurement, and logistics management. Responsible for linking major business functions and processes within the organization into a cohesive and high performing business model. Forecast planning and budget execution for healthcare resources and services, supplies, subsistence, durable medical equipment, medical gases, expendable/non-expendable and capital equipment, inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation and distribution. Leads and/or participate in regular meetings, ensuring logistics needs and requirements are being met. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Serving as a medical supply chain management leader/supervisor, responsible for ensuring the medical logistical requirements of an organization are met; planning/coordinating and evaluating various operations to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of a logistics program. Areas of knowledge and skill should include contracting/contract development, and acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable medical supply and equipment, and warehouse operations; experience assisting with budget formulation and forecasting of expenditures. At this level, candidates should possess experience in overseeing and managing a group with a variety of occupations and subordinate supervisors.
