How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
Much as Delta Air Lines helps passengers reach their
destinations, the Cargo division serves companies in safe and efficient
transport of a wide range of freight, including everything from mail to live
animals and life-saving pharmaceuticals. Different departments in the Cargo
division provide rate information, sell cargo space in the belly of Delta’s
passenger aircraft, track & trace freight and resolve customer problems.
Additionally, they safely move cargo from a warehouse location to airport ramp
areas and ensure proper delivery onto the appropriate aircraft.
The Cargo Operations team includes Field Operations, Field
Support, Customer Experience, Performance, Global Transportation, Logistics,
Digital Transformation & Technology, and Safety, Security, &
Compliance. The Delta Cargo Safety, Security, & Compliance team is seeking
one co-op for a full-time position based in Atlanta, GA.
The co-op will be required to complete three alternating
semesters rotations must be completed before the student's graduation. of work
and school.
All Note: co-ops are not permitted to work part-time hours
and should refrain from taking classes (inclusive of online or in-person) and
working as a co-op during the same semester.
The full-time work schedule for this role, while remaining
actively enrolled in an approved undergraduate curriculum, is as follows:
• Spring 2026
• Fall 2026
• Summer 2027
Co-ops must ensure that this alternating semester rotation
schedule works with their university, curriculum, and/or academic advisor
before applying. Working as a Co-op does not guarantee a full-time opportunity
upon graduation. This position is intended to provide educational and
professional work experience.
Overall function and role: as part of the team directly
responsible for all safety, security, and compliance efforts for Delta Cargo
worldwide customers and employees, this individual will be supporting
applicable initiatives in a fast-paced, rewarding, and dynamic environment. Candidate
must have a detail-oriented, adaptable, and collaborative approach &
spirit.
This will include but not be limited to:
• Support the Cargo Safety, Security, & Compliance team
with ongoing development of enhancements and improvements
• Propose ideas for continuous improvement in processing and
tracking effectiveness
• Implementing project management skills and practices
• Record results in a database and develop metrics to
analyze performance
• Measuring and analyzing current performance
• Work across business units with various stakeholders in a
professional setting
• Provide process engineering and/or internal consulting
services
• Participate in data collection efforts for projects that
impact cross-functional departments
• Identify and implement improvements to existing processes
to increase efficiency, productivity, and performance
• Recommend ideas for new ways to provide optimal (internal
and external) customer service and evaluate safety/compliance impact of
proposed operational changes The Co-
Op will support the following teams:
• Cargo Safety
o The Cargo Safety team is
responsible for the Cargo Safety Management System (SMS), injury and damage
investigations, occupational safety & health (OSHA) initiatives,
ergonomics, employee reporting programs (ASAP), emergency response, safety
recognition, and ground standards assurance.
• Cargo Compliance (Regulatory)
o The Cargo Regulatory Compliance
team ensures regulatory acquiescence by developing policy and procedures for
global cargo operations. The team crafts risk-based auditing standards to
ensure Delta exceeds industry compliance norms.
• Cargo Compliance (Security)
o The Cargo Security team The cargo
security compliance team ensures that our cargo acceptance and screening
operations are maintaining compliance with TSA regulations across our system,
US, and non-US. We maintain the Delta Cargo Security Manual (DCSM), support and
maintain our screener training program and operational resources. We perform
investigations and respond to compliance failures across the system.
• Cargo Policy & Procedure
o The Policy & Procedures Team
engages with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Cargo policies and
procedures are understandable and updated in compliance with the required
industry regulations. The team supports implementation, revision, and adherence
to these policies and procedures.
• Pharmaceuticals
o The Cargo Pharmaceuticals team
is responsible for implementing a quality management system (QMS) within
pharmaceuticals and other specialty cargo operations.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
The co-op must be enrolled as a
full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic
institution throughout the co-op program. The co-op must be able to work onsite
in our Atlanta, GA office on a full-time basis as an undergraduate student
during the following 3 alternating semesters:
Spring 2026, Fall 2026, and Summer
2027.
• Must be enrolled in one of the
following or similar studies: Business Administration and Management, Project
Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Aviation/Aeronautics/Aeronautical
Science/Aviation Management/Aviation Operations, Management/Aviation Operations,
Occupational Health & Safety, Aviation Safety, Information Systems
• Self-motivated, eager to accept
responsibility and learn new tools and processes. • Strong project management
skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in
a dynamic environment.
• Must demonstrate the ability to
work on multiple assignments with strict deadlines and function effectively
under pressure.
• Strong organizational,
problem-solving skills, and verbal/written communication skills are essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and
exercise confidentiality of protected information.
• Open-mindedness and
willingness & ability to learn new skills is required.
• Candidate is team-oriented and
highly supportive of continuous improvement methodologies.
• Must be able to work in a time
sensitive environment, be a self-starter and highly motivated.
• Some travel may be required.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft
applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
• General administrative skills
which include but are not limited to scheduling meetings or in person training,
coordinating speakers and attendees, coordinating meeting logistics, taking and
publishing meeting notes, and conducting post-meeting follow-up.
• Must be able to work onsite in
our Atlanta, GA office for the duration of the co-op rotations.
• At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0-point
scale.
• Consistently prioritizes safety
and security of self, others, and personal data.
• Embraces diverse people,

• Possesses a high school diploma,
GED, or high school equivalency

+ The degree includes a specialization inaviation, supply chain, cargo, logistics, security.
+ Experience with Quality Control/QualityManagement Systems (QMS). Confident in PowerPoint and presentation creation;executive decks are built regularly.
+ Strong presentation skills in front of leadersand large groups. Confident in Excel creation/manipulation; large data sets areregularly collated, analyzed, and reviewed.
+ Familiarly with airline operations.
+ Project management experience.
