    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Cut, trim, and prepare various cuts of meat, including beef, pork, poultry, and lamb, based on customer orders and store requirements.

    + Assist customers by answering questions about meat cuts, preparation methods, and cooking recommendations. Provide suggestions and help customers select the right products for their needs.

    + Ensure the meat department is fully stocked with fresh products. Display products in an appealing and hygienic manner. Replenish stock regularly to meet demand.

    + Keep the meat department, including workstations, utensils, and display cases, clean and organized. Follow all food safety regulations and proper hygiene practices.

    + Monitor inventory levels, check for expiration dates, and rotate stock to minimize waste. Assist in ordering products as needed.

    + Follow all health and safety guidelines, including wearing protective gear and handling equipment safely. Ensure compliance with all company policies and local regulations regarding food safety.

    + Accurately package meat products, including weighing and labeling packages with the correct price and product information.

    + Work closely with other meat department staff, store managers, and other departments to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction.

    Guest Service:

    + Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner.

    + Provide knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries.

    + Promote and exemplify a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication with guests and team members.

    + Provides excellent guest service by acknowledging guests promptly and taking their orders accurately. Prepares and processes the guest’s orders promptly and finalizes their purchase in a friendly manner.

    + Displays excellent problems solving skills and prides themselves on finding the best resolution that exemplifies the “Lee’s Way- doing what’s best for our guests, our team, and our company”.

    Product Handling:

    + Stock shelves and maintain displays according to store standards.

    + Ensure product freshness by rotating stock and checking expiration dates.

    + Assist in unloading deliveries and organizing stock rooms as needed.

    + Package and label products using a computer program.

    + Assists the department to maintain proper freshness, pricing, code dating, tare and merchandising of products in compliance with company policies and procedures.

    Cleanliness and Safety:

    + Maintain a clean and organized work area.

    + Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.

    + Report any safety hazards or equipment issues to management.

    + Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations.

    + Contributes towards the cleaning responsibilities in the department as management sees fit.

    Cash Handling (if applicable):

    + Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately.

    + Follow store policies on returns, exchanges, and refunds.

    + Ensure the security of cash and other financial transactions.

    Team Collaboration:

    + Work cooperatively with team members to achieve store goals.

    + Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.

    Education and Experience:

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + Previous experience in food service or guest service (preferred).

    + Previous Meat Department experience welcome.

Some of the duties of a Meat Clerk include the displaying and preparation of meat products, learning the preservation process of meat products, being involved in education opportunities that teach you the different types of meats we provide, learning about pricing/scaling of items and like always, helping to provide a clean and safe shopping and working experience for our team and guests by assisting with the cleaning and sanitation of the department.     + Has knowledge of various cuts and types of meat products.

    + Must be familiar with all company safety and accident prevention policies, reporting all accidents to the department manager, or in their absence, the Store Director.

    + Comply with all company policies, programs and directives as specified in Team Member Handbook.

    + Help to ensure that the physical appearance of the department, including selling and backroom areas meet maintenance and sanitation standards of the company and government regulatory agencies at all times.

    + Help to maintain all department equipment in good working order.

    Position Requirements:

    + Minimum Age: 18 Years of age.

    + Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift up to 90 pounds

    + Equipment: Wrapping machine, knives, slicer, steamer and scales.

    + Physical Abilities: Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, twist, and bend; repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl. Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting. Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders required.
