Description
The Senior Site Content Development Manager sets the strategic vision for content execution and leads a multi-functional team responsible for the Zappos digital shopping experience across web and mobile platforms. They build and manage high-performing teams that deliver content for the homepage, lookbooks, sitewide promotions, and other content-related pages. This leader operates with a high degree of autonomy, navigating complex ambiguity to drive team performance and achieve revenue growth through front-end innovation. They ensure the delivery of a best-in-class website and app experience while balancing customer experience optimization with business objectives.
The Senior Manager fosters a culture of creativity, data-driven decision making, and operational excellence. They oversee the development and execution of content strategies that drive e-commerce performance, ensuring alignment between content initiatives and broader organizational goals. This leader establishes and maintains content quality standards across all digital touchpoints while driving continuous improvement in user experience and customer engagement metrics. They partner with Analytics to measure and optimize content performance, collaborate with Marketing, Merchandising, and Brand teams to maintain consistent messaging, and identify opportunities for innovation in content presentation and delivery.
Key job responsibilities
• Builds and leads a team of content developers and potentially other managers, providing clear direction, coaching, and career development opportunities
• Establishes team structures aligned with customer needs and business goals, ensuring operational excellence
• Sets and communicates performance expectations, providing regular feedback to ensure high-quality content delivery
• Manages cross-functional relationships with Creative, Site Merchandising, UX, and Tech teams
• Develops and implements content strategies aligned with long-term business goals and customer experience objectives
• Hires, onboards, and develops talent, ensuring rapid skill development and growth opportunities
• Creates an inclusive team culture that encourages innovation and collaboration
• Manages team workload and priorities to consistently meet deadlines and deliverables
• Monitors team performance metrics and implements process improvements to optimize efficiency
• Presents team progress and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
• Participates in and may lead talent reviews and calibration activities
• Defines metrics to measure team progress, customer experience, and operational excellence
Basic Qualifications
• 5+ years in the content development or related field, with demonstrated leadership experience
• Strong understanding of digital content strategy and e-commerce best practices
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
• Experience in mentoring and developing team members, including potential management of other managers
• Ability to balance team development with strategic business objectives
• Bachelors Degree
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in an online fashion setting
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across teams and functions
• Experience in tackling complex problems and making data-driven decisions
• Excellent attention to details

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $102,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $178,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
