Security Engineer (Full-Time)

This is a hybrid position, 3 days a week in Cypress, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Program Roadmap:

+ Assist in the development and execution of the organization's security program roadmap.

+ Analyze and contribute to understanding the organizational risk profile, threats, and third-party compliance requirements.

Security Engineering:

+ Participate in identifying and researching security technologies.

+ Contribute to the design, deployment, and maintenance of security solutions.

+ Propose and assist in migrations/upgrades for end-of-life technologies.

+ Administer security tools, troubleshoot issues, and recommend security improvements.

Threat Management:

+ Research and assess emerging security threats and evaluate their impact.

+ Assist in investigations related to security breaches and threat analysis.

Security Governance:

+ Support internal audits and propose security policies or procedures based on risk assessments.

Supplemental Duties:

+ Communicate with vendors and act as a technical liaison.

+ Continuously pursue training and skill development within the field.

+ Collaborate with other technology teams to resolve technical issues.

+ Assist with coordination of audits, both internal and external.

+ Participate in additional tasks as required.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

+ Minimum 3+ years of experience in Information Security roles, particularly in assessing architectures for security risks and vulnerabilities.

+ Alternatively, 5+ years in a senior-level network/system role with a strong focus on security.

+ Hands-on experience with security infrastructures (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, DLP, SIEM, etc.).

+ Foundational understanding of networking concepts.

+ Understanding of cloud security concepts (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) preferred.

+ Experience implementing security frameworks or concepts with at least one major IaaS provider is a plus.

+ Professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, GISP, Security+, Network+) are highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

+ Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.

+ Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities with excellent organizational skills.

+ Proficient in technical documentation and effectively communicating with all levels of an organization.

+ Solid understanding of security frameworks, such as NIST and CIS controls.

+ Experience with secure application/network design, cloud security architectures, and data protection principles.
