This role leads the team that is responsible for developing and performing critical functions directly impacting alternative investment fund accounting. Serves as the senior process owner for alternative products across multiple back-office functions, drives the strategic agenda for the team, and manages key vendors to enable a robust control environment while meeting market expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
+ Sets the strategic direction for highly critical and high risk processes and leads teams in the delivery of the valuation, operations, and oversight of Vanguard’s alternative investment products across the globe. Serves at the key decision maker for alternative investment products in determining policies, global operating models, and the control environment.
+ Ensures an appropriate control environment to avoid financial losses and to impacts to Vanguard’s reputation.
+ Directs and leads reporting and communication regarding decisions made, operational efficacy, business results, and the risk profile of key operations to senior leader committees as well as Vanguard managing directors. Oversees and provides insights into key Vanguard Board and Vanguard Audit Committee direction, reports and updates.
+ Develops and executes long term process and operational plans to achieve departmental and corporate objectives in alignment with divisional strategies for a 3-5 years outlook.
+ Acts as a trusted adviser and global thought leader for others at Vanguard utilizing advanced knowledge of alternative investment accounting. Serves as an industry expert and is a member of various industry groups.
+ Leads the development of the departmental business plan and budget by managing expenses, including cost per portfolio, and ensuring department operates within budgetary guidelines.
+ Builds and maintains strategic relationships across regions, sites, departments, and divisions as well as internal and external partners to support trading activities across Vanguard and the financial services industry.
+ Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
+ Minimum of ten years of related business experience, with at least six years of banking or financial services experience. Previous people-leadership experience strongly preferred.
