    A Tool & Die Maker creates and maintains tools, dies, jigs and fixtures in accordance with company manufacturing procedures and safety policies. This position is for 2nd shift (2pm-10pm), but will train on 1st.

    Requirements

    + Determines process, materials, and machines needed to repair parts and bring them back in line with specifications

    + Computes dimensions, plan layout and determine assembly method and sequence of operations for repairing parts

    + Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining

    + Sets up and operates required machines to repair parts successfully and safely

    + Verifies that repaired parts conform to specifications

    + Records tooling modifications and history

    + Polishes and refinishes parts as needed

    + Performs other duties as assigned, based on workload and business need

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    + High school diploma or GED

    + Certificate or degree in Industrial Technology or related field preferred

    + 5 years tool room experience

    TECHNICAL / FUNCTION SPECIFIC:

    + Ability to read blueprints

    + Advanced math skills, including ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

    + Intermediate reading skills

    + Working knowledge of lathes, mills and other industrial equipment used in the machine / tool & die shop

    + Ability to create and modify CNC programs

    BEHAVORIAL:

    + Willingness and ability to follow all manufacturing procedures and company policies

    + Attention to detail

    + Concern for quality, accuracy, and safety

    + Ability to stay on task and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines

    + Positive attitude and ability to work well with others, including peers, supervisors, executive management and outside vendors, representatives and visitors when called upon

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    + Sufficient manual dexterity to successfully use a computer.

    + Frequently required to stand and/or walk, up to 10 hours per day, and make frequent trips from the manufacturing area to the office area.

    + Ability to independently lift UP to 50 pounds as needed and lift 50 pounds with the aid of hoists and other equipment.

    + Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing area, including, but not limited to, safety glasses and safety shoes.

    + Ability and willingness to work overtime, including other shifts and weekends, as required per the needs of the business.
