Hours Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week - not exceed 19.5 hours
Summary of Position
Responsible for educating and training students in various aspects of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, including diagnostics, repair, and maintenance. This is an online blended position, which combines online learning with in-person labs. The position involves developing and delivering curriculum, providing hands-on instruction, assessing student progress, maintaining tools, equipment, and facilities, and fostering strong industry connections to prepare students for successful careers in the HVAC field.
Minimum Required Education
Associates Degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution is required; Bachelors degree preferred.
Minimum Required Experience
Directly related work experience in the HVAC career field exclusive of teaching, professional licensure, and/or industry certifications.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of
1. air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration system theory, components, and repair procedures.
2. OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
3. hazardous materials handling, storage, disposal, and required record keeping.
4. proper use and maintenance of HVAC tools, equipment, and service publications.
5. equipment maintenance and repair procedures used in instructional lab setting.
6. instructional delivery techniques and learning assessments.
Skills to
1. perform service, repair, and maintenance tasks on HVAC -R systems and lab equipment.
2. operate tools, oxy-fuel torches, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively for hands-on demonstrations.
3. use technical publications and schematics to troubleshoot and repair systems.
4. communicate effectively and present/convey complex technical concepts.
5. solve problems and think critically.
6. organize and manage time and tasks.
7. use an LMS (e.g., Blackboard) to deliver curriculum and track student progress.
8. work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to
1. engage and motivate students with various learning styles and backgrounds.
2. design and deliver hands-on training activities and assessments.
3. maintain industry partnerships and collaborate with local businesses.
4. stay current with advancements in HVAC -R technology.
5. update curriculum accordingly.
6. maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor when interacting with students, colleagues, and the public.
7. maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
8. be fair, impartial, and objective in assessing student performance and handling classroom/lab situations.
9. work independently and manage time effectively with limited supervision.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the performance of administrative tasks—such as certifying census rosters, entering assignment and final grades, and providing data to support institutional accountability—is an essential part of this role.
