NewsNation is looking for a Senior Segment Producer to join the network and work on the daily political program The Hill. The Senior Segment Producer is responsible for contributing story ideas, compiling elements, and crafting stories and segments on a variety of topics centering on political news, domestic news, and international news. The position is based at the network's offices in New York.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Research topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sources

• Select strongest possible elements to help best tell stories

• Write clear, compelling and strong editorial copy

• Assist in preparing and executing live, compelling television newscasts.

• Keep Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of developments of stories

• Support segment producers in crafting and writing

• Copy and edit scripts to ensure accuracy, journalistic integrity, and that stories meet the show's style

• Work in control room during show to ensure flawless production. Duties include calling video playback, graphics and banners insertion, checking in guests.

• Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producer, or network leadership

Requirements & Skills:

• BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field

• Five or more years’ experience in national or major-market news

• Experience and background in producing political news is strongly preferred

• Line producing and control room experience a plus.

• Must be detail-oriented and have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an eye towards grammar

• Must exhibit strong news judgment

• Must have strong broadcast writing skills

• Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people

• Must interact well with on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staff

• Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines

• Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time

• Must be able to work assigned shifts including holidays as needed

Salary Range: 80,000 – 100,000
