• Manager, Research Science - Generative AI, Voice

    Summary:

    We are seeking a visionary and experienced technical leader to join our AI research and development teams focused on advancing the next generation of artificial intelligence technologies. This role involves leading multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation in large language models, on-device AI, and/or AI-powered wearable experiences.

    Required Skills:

    Manager, Research Science - Generative AI, Voice Responsibilities:

    1. Be hands-on supporting and leading teams of software engineers, research engineers, and/or research scientists

    2. Remain up-to-date on ongoing research and software development activities in the team, help work through technical challenges, and be involved in design decisions

    3. Communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with clients and peer teams to accelerate research and development across projects

    4. Develop research plans, technical vision, long-term strategy and set direction for the team and the organization

    5. Present the team's work and plans in cross-company executive forums as well as to the scientific community

    6. Remain involved in the research community, both understanding trends, and setting them

    Minimum Qualifications:

    7. 12+ years of experience or PhD and 8+ years of experience in a related industry research and development setting

    8. 2+ years of experience managing managers, 5+ years of experience managing technical teams

    9. Experience and track record of landing large research and/or product impacts in a time-sensitive environment

    10. Experience with cross functional collaboration with product and infrastructure teams, as well as non-engineering functions

    11. Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, and leading technical organizations, including performance management

    12. PhD degree in Computer Science, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and/or related technical field

    13. Experience and knowledge of various speech and language processing and techniques

    14. Experience and knowledge of training LLMs, post-training, and fine-tuning

    15. Experience and knowledge of ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc

    Public Compensation:

    $213,000/year to $293,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
