    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

     

    + Follow all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety rules and regulations

    + Liaise/support both internal and external stakeholders across the Engineering Department in accordance with assigned responsibilities

    + Coordinate feasibility studies in support of and preparation of offers and technical specifications

    + Meet with prospective owners in support of Business Development

    + Prepare and review ship specifications

    + Coordinate and track engineering submittals between design partners, classification societies, and owners

    + Coordinate workflow of basic and detail design phases within the Engineering Department

    + Provide support to Project Management as the interface to other engineering disciplines and generate necessary reports, presentations, and other deliverables to provide engineering status

    + Propose technical improvements; propose, develop and implement quality standards

    + Track, monitor, and provide status of actions resulting from comments from Owner and Class to resolution and deliverables

    + Provide field engineering support as required to support production activities during blue mark inspections or responding to production questions arising during vessel construction

    + Maintain working knowledge of classification and regulatory rules with knowledge of ship systems and arrangements

    + Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned

    COMPETENCIES:

    + Excellent written and presentation skills coupled with strong interpersonal and team-building capabilities across different functional areas and cultures

    + Decision Making/Problem Solving

    + Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    + Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant engineering field from an accredited university

    + 2 years’ experience in naval architectural, marine engineering or related field preferred

    + Project coordination experience is a plus

    + Knowledge concerning basic and detail ship design is a plus, not mandatory

    + Knowledge concerning modern shipbuilding practices is a plus, not mandatory

    + International experience and familiarity with European and Asian Shipbuilding Standards is a plus

    + Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and scheduling software such as MS Project is a plus

    + Proficiency with MS Office

    + CAD systems such as AutoCAD and AVEVA is a plus

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A range of motion sufficient to perform general lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, climbing, working at heights, extended walking or standing, etc. is required.     WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Duties performed in an office area environment within a manufacturing facility. Responsibilities will require routine fieldwork in the shipyard’s fabrication shops, dry docks, and on-board vessels as part of the above activities. These heavy industrial settings may include; noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fume, and smoke, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

    This is an on-site, full-time, safety-sensitive position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.
