    About the Role:

    Dow Jones is seeking an experienced VP Technology, Publishing and Data Tools to lead the strategy, development, and evolution of our content management systems, publishing platform, and structured data tools. This leader will oversee the technology stack that powers our newsroom, enabling seamless publishing, data-driven storytelling, and efficient workflows. This leader will also be responsible for tools that manage structured financial data, complex workflows, price adjustments, and automation of workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

     

    As a key leader in our technology organization, the VP Technology, Publishing and Data Tools, will partner with editorial, product, data, and other teams to ensure our platforms support high-quality journalism while scaling with our business needs.

    You Will:

    + Lead the strategy and roadmap for the CMS, publishing tools, and structured data platforms, ensuring modern, scalable, secure, and cloud-based architectures.

    + Develop and optimize editorial tools to streamline workflows, support real-time content syndication, and maintain compliance, permissions, and version control.

    + Automate news production by integrating financial data into articles, dashboards, and analytics, and reducing manual tasks through workflow automation.

    + Oversee API and system development to ingest, validate, and transform real-time price feeds, market data, and structured information.

    + Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to implement AI-driven insights and recommendations within editorial products.

    + Evaluate and integrate third-party solutions, balancing custom development with off-the-shelf tools to enhance publishing capabilities.

    + Ensure high system performance, uptime, and security to support the demands of financial journalism.

    + Lead and mentor cross-functional teams of engineers, product managers, and designers focused on publishing and data tools.

    You Have:

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

    + 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a focus on CMS, publishing platforms, or structured data tools.

    + Proven experience in financial, media, or real-time news organizations.

    + Expertise in structured data management, including market data APIs, price feeds, and financial databases.

    + Strong understanding of content workflows, editorial processes, and newsroom automation.

    + Experience with modern headless CMS platforms, API-driven architectures, and cloud-based publishing solutions.

    + Knowledge of AI-driven automation tools, NLP, and metadata enrichment in publishing.

    + Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

    + CMS technologies: WordPress, Drupal, Sanity, Contentful, or custom publishing platforms.

    + Financial data tools: Bloomberg, Refinitiv, FactSet, Morningstar, or proprietary market data systems.

    + Cloud infrastructure: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for scalable publishing and data management.

    + Proven track record of leadership and technical expertise in product engineering and / or mobile and web engineering, with at least 8 years of experience.

    + Proven success building and growing subscription and / or commerce products.

    + Experience leveraging data and analytics to deliver measurable product improvements.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.

    + Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology approach with business goals.

    + Experience working in media is a plus.

    Pay Range: $315,000 - $375,000
