    The University of Maine Farmington (UMF) is searching for a dedicated, energetic Assistant Coach for our Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams.

    What You’ll Do:

    + Assist the Head Coach with practices, competitions, and strategy

    + Coach athletes in both training and meets—indoor and outdoor

    + Scout, recruit, and build relationships with prospective student-athletes

    + Contribute to strength & conditioning, film analysis, and daily operations

    + Serve as a supportive mentor and role model, ensuring NCAA and NAC compliance

    A typical season runs from October through May. This is a part-time, temporary position that will compensate up to $6,000.

    Essential Duties

    + Participates in competitions and practices, including the organization and implementation of daily practices for our indoor and outdoor seasons.

    + Coaches in competition and training.

    + Prepares film breakdowns and analyses; presents the analysis to team members.

    + Plans and prepares for competition and training.

    + Assists in organizing team travel and meals.

    + Assists with scouting, recruitment, and strategy development. Supports player and leadership development.

    + Contributes to strength and conditioning programs, including one-on-one strength and conditioning work with student-athletes.

    + Provide support and encouragement to student-athletes.

    + Recruits and retains talented athletes; builds relationships with prospective student-athletes and their families through email, phone, and one-on-one meetings.

    + Understands NCAA and North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rules, compliance, and bylaws.

    + Ensures the safety and well-being of student-athletes.

    + Serves as an effective role model for college-age students.

    + Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Track and Field program.

    + Provides effective communication to the head coach.

    + Collaborates effectively with other Department of Athletics team members.

    + Attends and participates in department trainings.

     

    Note: UMF reserves the right to change or assign additional duties as necessary.

    Required Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent

    + Experience with the skills of track and field related to any of the following disciplines, not limited to: distance events, sprints, hurdles, or jump events

    + Valid driver's license (in good standing, based on UMS standards)

    + Availability for practices and weekend competitive schedule

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree

    + Collegiate competitive experience/coaching

    + Sports recruiting experience
