    Job Title: Inside Sales Manager and Product Manager

     

    Pay & FSLA Status: Competitive Compensation, D.O.E.; Salary exempt

     

    Regular Schedule & Shift: Monday – Friday; Day shift

     

    Regular Weekly Hours: Full-time/40 hours per week (overtime as needed)

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Inside Sales Manager and Product Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of the inside sales team within their assigned region, as well as educating the distribution chain on all features and benefits of assigned product line(s). This position will work directly with their immediate supervisor and have full authority in all areas regarding staffing, employee engagement and development, and accountability. This position is also responsible for managing inventory maintenance, developing and maintaining relationships with sizeable sales accounts, as well as creating demand with downstream participants (general contractors, dealers, distributors, and key influencers) in the market area.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Inside Sales Management:

    + Manage staffing in accordance with company policies and applicable state and federal laws, including:

    + Interviewing and hiring qualified candidates.

    + Training, developing, and appraising employees (including new hire orientation and performance reviews).

    + Planning, assigning, and directing work.

    + Rewarding and disciplining employees (including termination).

    + Taking corrective action as necessary in a timely manner.

    + Addressing complaints and resolving personnel issues.

    + Responsible for leading and directing the inside sales team in the assigned region with limited participation in daily functions, including: taking customer phone calls, performing order entry, and pro-actively selling.

    + Prepare and participate fully in training sessions, meetings, skill building, and professional development classes.

    + Lead and promote a culture of safety within the assigned branches. Ensure adherence to the policies and procedures of the OrePac safety program.

    Product Management:

    + Coordinate sources of supply for the assigned categories to obtain the most economical purchases possible.

    + Responsible for finalizing and issuing purchase orders to assigned vendors for designated product lines on a daily basis. Review supplier confirmations for accuracy, related to order details, specifications, branch information, pricing, quantities, and expected delivery dates. Complete oversight for samples and displays for assigned product lines; working with the branch sales team to understand and determine the needs of each market within the sales region.

    + Responsible for independent and coordinated sales visits with Account Executives and Territory Sales Representatives to existing and prospective customers as needed and directed by branch leadership. Field travel is expected as the needs of the business dictate, not to exceed 20% of the time.

    + Evaluate the dependability and resourcefulness of suppliers and competitive quotations, placing orders to OrePac’s best advantage.

    + Maintain responsible and accurate records with regard to purchasing, pricing, and deliveries.

    + Develop and maintain catalog price pages on assigned product lines. Collaborate with the Corporate Pricing Manager as needed or upon request.

    + Verify quantity and quality of stock received from suppliers, authorize payment of invoices or return of merchandise, and inspect exchanged or refunded merchandise.

    + Locate new sources of supply while keeping abreast of changing trends in prices and availability of materials. Provide product information to staff and recommend necessary action(s) to ensure a continued flow of materials to meet inventory and sales requirements.

    + Recommend policies and procedures for purchasing functions in adherence to company-defined best practices.

    + Communicate regional marketing opportunities with the Sales Manager (trade shows, publications, seminars).

    + Advise the Sales Manager of margin/profit opportunity, and meet standards for quality, fill rates, inventory turns, and gross margin as established by the Sales Manager.

    + Attend assigned supply chain-related conference calls held throughout the month and provide a detailed summary to the branch leadership and sales teams.

    + Partner with the Sales Manager and sales staff to develop a forecast and projections to be provided regularly to the Corporate Supply Chain team.

    + Maintain knowledge of the local market. Share market-specific information regarding competitive landscape and opportunities regarding assigned product line(s) with the Sales Manager.

    + Play an active role in developing, updating, and facilitating training for the Authorized Dealer network.

    + Responsible for the reviewing and auditing of receiving paperwork and working with the Corporate Supply Chain team to resolve receipt discrepancies and correct them in the system.

    + Communicate with the sales team about upcoming jobs and possible customer needs.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    + Experience in leading teams, including the ability to effectively and efficiently handle personnel conflicts while successfully driving company and department initiatives and goals.

    + Ability to problem solve minor to complex challenges within the department utilizing the tools and resources available and escalate the matter when appropriate.

    + Demonstrated ability to resolve escalated customer concerns and complaints in a professional, effective, and timely manner.

    + Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

    + Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with the ability to re-prioritize throughout the day while maintaining a positive attitude.

    + Ability to motivate, positively influence, and inspire team members and others within the branch.

    + Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

    + Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, area, and volume.

    + Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

    + Knowledge base in building materials is preferred. Specific knowledge of doors is required.

    + Commitment to and demonstration of high ethical standards governing professional behavior and interactions.

    + Great organization and time management skills with an eye for detail and the ability to make decisions that are in line with OrePac standards.

    + Strong customer service orientation and high level of attention to detail.

    + Ability to continuously develop knowledge of the industry and competition within a given market and the ability to channel that knowledge to pivot sales objectives, tactics, and strategies.

    + Demonstrated capability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships and work in a team environment.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, One Note, Word, and Excel).

    + Experience using lead tracking services and customer relationship management software such as SalesForce.com (preferred).

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    + Bachelor’s degree in any field.

    + 3 to 5 years of relevant sales and industry experience, including previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role and experience in a supply chain or related position working with product line oversight and inventory planning and control in a distribution environment.

    + Any combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be accepted in place of the education and/or experience requirements listed for this role.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    + Regularly required to see, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.

    + Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

    + Occasionally required to lift/move/manipulate up to 50 pounds and team lift/move/manipulate up to 100 pounds.

    + Occasionally required to bend, reach, and climb tall ladders and stairs.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    + This position operates in a professional office environment and onsite in the construction field.

    + This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

    + The work environment is generally quiet but can be loud when in the construction field.

    + This position requires travel throughout the assigned region up to 20% per week.
