Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team in Modesto, California. This role focuses on ensuring the accurate application of customer payments to maintain the integrity of financial records and support the organization’s cash flow operations. As a Long-term Contract position, this opportunity offers stability and the chance to contribute to a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
• Process and accurately apply incoming customer payments, including checks, wire transfers, credit card transactions, and lockbox receipts.
• Match payments to the appropriate accounts and invoices using accounting systems.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies such as unapplied or misapplied payments in collaboration with internal teams.
• Reconcile payment issues including short payments, overpayments, and deductions.
• Maintain clear records of unapplied cash and cash application activities to ensure accurate reporting.
• Assist with month-end closing procedures related to accounts receivable and cash receipts.
• Provide support to the credit and collections team by delivering insights on customer account statuses.
• Prepare and organize documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
• Contribute to process improvement efforts aimed at optimizing cash application workflows.
• Address inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding payment application and account reconciliation.

Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or an associate degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, cash application, or general accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks independently.
• Excellent communication skills paired with problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
• Experience with accounts receivable processes and cash application workflows.
