Description

We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team located in the Greater Philadelphia Region. This is a contract-to-permanent Staff Accountant position, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of an organization within the museum and cultural sector. The ideal Staff Accountant candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and compliance with accounting standards.

What you get to do every single day:

• Manage the accounts payable process, including reviewing invoices for accuracy, coding, and processing payments through electronic funds transfer, bank drafts, and checks.

• Maintain vendor filing systems with proper documentation for payments and approvals.

• Reconcile monthly credit card statements and ensure accuracy in backup and coding.

• Oversee the reconciliation of pre-paid expenses and deferred revenue, ensuring compliance with accounting policies.

• Process employee expense reimbursements and monitor for discrepancies or errors.

• Perform daily bank reconciliations, tracking cash inflows and outflows, and prepare journal entries to resolve reconciling items.

• Record and reconcile daily sales activities, including cash deposits and credit card transactions.

• Liaise with external ticketing agencies and internal departments to verify payments and ensure accuracy in accounts receivable.

• Analyze invoices to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend financial improvements.

• Prepare and post various journal entries and assist with other accounting duties as assigned.

Requirements

Other requirements for the Staff Accountant position include and are not limited to:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.

• A minimum of 2+ years of accounting experience with a focus on detail and accuracy is essential.

• Proficiency in Blackbaud Financial Edge software is preferred.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with complex spreadsheets.

• Strong understanding of general accounting principles, including debits, credits, and ledger management.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality.

• Familiarity with corporate tax processes, sales tax, and journal entries is highly desirable.
