    Position Summary:

    The Reentry Mentor works with reentry residents to help them (1) identify and reduce risk factors for re-incarceration, (2) engage in pro-social activities that foster successful re-integration into community life, and (3) be accountable to civic and criminal justice authorities as may be required as condition of their release (4) access services and programs that address training, employment, healthcare, and other social determinants of health.

    What You'll Do:

    + Meet with mentees assigned on a regularly scheduled basis and occasionally more when need arises.

    + Engage in open, honest dialogue to balance active, respectful listening with information about alternative perspectives/choices.

    + Provide connections to healthy pro-social community activities, people, and resources.

    + Maintain interpersonal boundaries that establish clarity about role as a mentor and ensure safety for all parties involved.

    + Uphold and practice the program philosophy and principles as imparted thru Mentor training.

    Your Responsabilities Include:

    + Work as part of a team with fellow mentors, staff, mentee’s family, and, when necessary, the mentee’s probation officer, Transition Coordinator, and community agencies/organizations to help the mentee become accountable and understand the impact of their behavior on the community.

    + Complete reports about contacts with the mentee and submit these to program staff

    + Participate actively in supervision and clinical supervision for case specific needs.

    + Check in with Transition Coordinators when concerns arise about mentee’s mental/emotional/physical health.

    + Attend all required workshops/training.

    You're a Great Fit For This Role If:

    + You have a High School diploma or GED.

    + You're willing to undergo routine criminal background check and discuss any concerns that arise.

    + You have experience working with public assistance recipients, homeless, formally incarcerated, and/or those affected by the challenges associated with poverty a plus.

    + You bring over 2 years of lived experience with criminal justice involvement

    + You have knowledge of criminal justice issues and populations, community health, HIV/ Hep-C transmission and prevention, addition and harm reduction and socio-cultural issues.

    + You bring excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.

    + You' re are proficient in MS Office products.

    + Highly organized and detail minded.

    + Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

    Compensation:

    $16.83-$19.24 per hour
