    Job Summary

    The Internal Evaluator supports the evaluation and continuous improvement of Mississippi INBRE, a National Institutes of Health funded program. This role involves designing and implementing evaluation plans, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and reporting findings to stakeholders. The evaluator collaborates with faculty, staff, and partner institutions to assess program effectiveness, track participant outcomes, and ensure compliance with NIH and institutional reporting requirements.

     

    Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Design, implement, and refine comprehensive evaluation plans for Mississippi INBRE program. Assess experiences of undergraduate participants and faculty researchers, including mentoring effectiveness. Analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data; prepare visual and written summaries (charts, tables, slides). Provide evaluation consulting and technical assistance to partner institutions and stakeholders. Participate in national and regional evaluation meetings (e.g., PEARL). Support dissemination of evaluation findings and program accomplishments.

    + Develop and administer surveys and other data collection instruments. Collect and analyze data from internal and external stakeholders. Track workshop attendance, satisfaction, and participant outcomes using tools like the National Student Clearinghouse. Create, maintain and update database for tracking and reporting.

    + Prepare internal and external evaluation reports for stakeholders. Ensure compliance with NIH other federal requirements. Coordinate responses to data requests from NIH, university administration, and other stakeholders.

    + Assist in coordinating events such as research retreats and workshops. Foster relationships with national INBRE programs to share best practices.

    + Occasional travel for site visits and evaluation meetings.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a STEM related field and three (3) years of STEM field related postgraduate research and evaluation experience.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

     

    + Advanced knowledge of research methods, evaluation design, and analytical procedures.

    + Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, survey platforms, statistical software).

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present findings clearly.

    + Experience with grant-funded programs and academic institutional systems.

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all teams.

    + Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

    + Familiarity with NIH reporting requirements and academic publishing standards.

    + Ability to travel or complete overnight stays.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Doctoral degree in biomedical or behavioral sciences and 5 or more years of experience in program evaluation, particularly within grant-funded or academic settings.
