    About this Opportunity

     

    As our Paralegal, you’ll support ITG’s production of commercial title guaranties by providing superior service to our participants- such as attorneys, closers, and abstractors- preparing commitments and certificates, while ensuring product quality through first-tier compliance reviews.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Drafts and issues legally binding contracts for title coverage against loss or damage caused by defective title to real property, known as commitments and certificates.

    + Conducts initial underwriting of each property and the transaction to confirm requested coverage availability.

    + Thoroughly reviews and investigates applications, attorney title opinions, and supporting documents to ensure adherence to applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

    + Serves as a reliable resource to participants and partners by answering inquiries and interpreting rules and regulations.

    + Identifies title defects and/or non-compliance with ITG coverage underwriting guidelines and collaborates with participants to resolve.

    + Performs related administrative tasks to support the work of commercial attorneys including processing payment checks and ensuring accurate delivery of pertinent mail items such as legal notices and applications.

    The Paralegal position is a non-merit, contract-covered position that is classified by the State of Iowa as a Paralegal. This position is non-exempt per FLSA regulations.

     

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited paralegal program;

    OR

    Experience equal to two years of full-time work as a paralegal or a similar support capacity under the supervision of a practicing attorney;

    OR

    A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described above) where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in fields including Business Administration, Management, Legal Studies, Public Administration, or a similar field of study equals one year of full-time experience.
