Broad Function
Responsible for actively recruiting, orienting, and supporting new and returning adult learners who are interested in enrolling in a degree program. Serves as the single point of contact for adult learners participating in SUNY Reconnect/NYS Promise Scholarship to assist in navigating the admissions, financial aid, academic advising, registration and various student support processes.
This position is funded through the SUNY Reconnect program. While it is expected that funding will continue, employment in this role is contingent upon the ongoing availability of program funding and the continued operation of the SUNY Reconnect program.
Major Responsibilities
With the goal of expanding and retaining the adult student population and working collaboratively with the College Access & Student Success team, this position is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive outreach and recruitment program, targeted to the adult-learner population including Reconnect eligible students and programs.
+ Actively recruit adults by developing new relationships and leveraging existing partnerships with area businesses and organizations including but not limited to BOCES, human resource offices, economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, rotary clubs, and military and veteran organizations.
+ Represent SUNY Adirondack at various recruiting events, career fairs, expos, education events, and conferences. Plan and host information sessions and open houses for prospective and returning adult students both on-campus and off-campus.
+ Conduct timely follow-up and develop an effective communications plan to prospective student leads including those received at recruitment events, through phone inquiries, and those generated from email and online campaigns.
+ Collaborate with departments across campus to coordinate adult recruitment & retention efforts and events including Continuing Education, Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Veteran Services, Marketing, Counseling, Student & Residential Life and transfer college partners.
+ Coordinate with Academic Affairs and appropriate faculty to review credit for prior learning, share data and feedback about SUNY Reconnect participants, Continuing Education/Workforce Innovation for short term credential opportunities, as well as other campus resources as needed.
+ Compile and analyze recruitment data to identify communication and recruitment strategies that foster conversion of adult learners from prospective students to graduates of SUNY Adirondack.
+ Assist in developing promotional campaigns and special event materials specific to the adult market. Distribute printed materials throughout the service area and build web presence around educational opportunities for prospective adult students.
+ Serve as primary contact for adult students, providing admission assistance, unofficial transcript evaluations, career guidance, and job search strategies while monitoring employment trends.
+ Engage in advising related activities, including financial aid completion and eligibility for adult learners.
+ Act as the primary liaison with SUNY System Administration to provide any required reporting of SUNY Reconnect participants.
+ Develop, coordinate, promote, implement, and assess innovative programming for adult students including workshops, orientation programming, and bridge programs in collaboration with other relevant offices.
+ Speak publicly and make group presentations at events and gatherings both on and off campus.
+ Prepare reports and complete special assignments, as required.
+ Track student progress using a variety of technology tools, and connect them to needed services
+ Provide expertise in best practices in Adult Education.

Required Skills
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to engage with people of diverse backgrounds. An individual who possesses a high level of energy, professionalism, enthusiasm, and a commitment to collaboration and teamwork. Ability to travel with a valid NYS driver’s license with clean record. Flexible schedule including evening/ weekend work throughout the calendar year. Ability to effectively utilize College Banner database and provide reports. Working knowledge of Banner, Brightspace, Starfish, DegreeWorks, Career Coach, Handshake, Slate (CRM) and other educational technologies are strongly preferred.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
Years of Experience
3-4 years of sales, customer services, or related experience. Previous experience in Adult education, but not required.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Office Environment. Occasionally lifting 5 - 10 lbs.

Salary Range
$25.38 - $28.55 per hour
The selected candidate’s hourly rate will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as SUNY Adirondack’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
