Job Summary
Novant Health is seeking a dedicated Nurse Manager to lead the Adult Psychiatry - Behavioral Health unit at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of the unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care, and fostering a safe and supportive environment for both patients and staff.
+ Schedule: Exempt position. Monday-Friday, 8-5 with flexibility required to meet the needs of the unit.
+ Department: Behavioral Health - Adult Psychology
+ Location: New Hanover Regional Medical Center - Wilmington, NC
+ Relocation Assistance provided.
Key Responsibilities
+ Clinical Leadership: Provide direct oversight of nursing staff, ensuring adherence to best practices in psychiatric nursing care. Provide leadership and creates a strategy to achieve the best outcomes including but not limited to quality, financial vitality, employee and customer satisfaction.
+ Staff Development: Mentor and support nursing staff through training, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
+ Operational Management: Manage unit staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation to maintain efficient and effective operations.
+ Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists, to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.spend at least 50% of his/her time on the unit and is visible, present and available to staff to provide necessary mentoring, teaching and support. Nurse Managers develops and maintains collegial relationships with physicians, clinical educators and other interdisciplinary team members.
+ Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and hospital policies, particularly those related to behavioral health and psychiatric care.
+ Patient Advocacy: Promote a patient-centered approach, advocating for the needs and rights of individuals receiving psychiatric care.

Qualifications
+ Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing, required. Graduate Degree, preferred.
+ Experience:
+ Two years demonstrated Nurse Manager leadership experience, preferred.
+ Three years clinical RN experience in an acute care setting, preferred.
+ Licensure/Certification:
+ Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
+ NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
+ Board certification in area of practice, preferred.
+ Additional Skills (required): Understands and applies: current and future trends/practice in area of responsibility; regulatory and governing standards, policies and procedures; information systems and software used in area of responsibility; equipment used in performing assigned duties; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; skills in interviewing and selection process; understanding of budgeting, staffing, payroll and purchasing processes; implementation of competency, feedback, development and progressive discipline processes; teambuilding, conflict management, and interpersonal relationship skills; principles of adult learning and teaching methods/models; decision making, project leadership and consultation, delegation and communication skills; customer needs and expectations and knowledge for improvement to exceed customer expectations; principles of change management.
