    POSITION SUMMARY

    The coordinator is responsible for the daily operations, staff, service or function assigned.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE

    + Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline with one to two years progressive experience in the field. Advanced degree is a plus/requirement, depending on specific service needs and/or requirements. Ideally the candidate will have some supervisory experience.

    + Or, AAS degree in appropriate discipline with progressive experience in the field will be considered based on specific department needs and/or requirements.

    + Or, high school graduate with a minimum of six years progressive experience in the field and additional supervisory training based on specific service need. Certification/licensure as required by regulatory agency.

    + Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

    SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    + Strong written and oral communication skills.

    + Strong interpersonal, motivational and conflict resolution skills.

    + Strong participatory management, team building and administrative skills.

    + Broad based knowledge of related regulatory compliance requirements.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS

    Exposure Class I or II, service specific – limited exposure to situation which could cause serious illness or injury (II), routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions (I).

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Medium work: Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull.

    GENERAL PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

    Management

    + Works closely with service management regarding daily operational issues including short, mid and long-range planning and coordination of the overall department. Provides reports and data relating to the ongoing status of the service assigned.

    + Coordinates the internal service operations as well as coordination with other departments, while providing leadership and support to the service assigned.

    + Works with supervisor and/or staff depending on the service size and structure.

    Financial

    + Participates in the monitoring, control and reporting variances to the assigned service budget.

    + Signing authority as assigned by the Director.

    Operational

    + Ensures the daily operations of the service, including but not limited to scheduling, personnel, safety, coordination, communication, project/work flow and performance of staff duties as required and assigned.

    + Provides consultation to other services or areas as required.

    Human Resources:

    + Assists in the recruitment, development, retention and evaluation of staff.

    + Monitors all personnel issues.

    Communications:

    + Communicates with service management on all relevant financial, operational and human resource issues.

    + Facilitates open communication throughout all levels of services.

    + Serves as a resource for information about the service in particular and the network in general.

    + Effectively educates the patient/family in specialty area.

    + Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement.

    Researcher:

    + Participates in Performance Improvement and Monitoring.

    + Applies current concepts and findings from research and/or studies to practice.

    Specific Performance Criteria:

    + Develops and Coordinates training of all new technical staff and annual/as needed competency assessment of current staff.

    + Manages automated dispensing cabinet system including instillation, maintenance, upgrades and optimization.

    + Manages the adding, editing and deleting users in the BD Pyxis System.

    + Works with nursing leadership to prevent and investigate controlled substance diversion by running reports, rounding with nursing leadership and supporting investigation as needed.

    + Is responsible for the creation monthly and daily work schedules for all the technicians.

    + Ensures bi-weekly tine cards for pharmacy technicians are complete and accurate.

    + Directly oversees controlled substance ordering, inventory control and diversion prevention.

    + Contributes to the development of the pharmacy by projects, task force and committee involvement including Pyxis implementation and the conversion to Togethercare.

    + Oversees monthly unit inspections ensuring they are completed on time, documented and any opportunities for improvement are escalated.

     

    Pay Range based on experience and department: $26.10-37.50
