    General Description:

    The Senior Accountant is a contributing member of the Accounting team and is accountable to the Controller for the successful collection and maintenance of financial data, ensuring that financial records are maintained in compliance with lawful and generally accepted accounting principles. This position works collaboratively with the accounting team and serves as the responsible staff member for financial reporting and analysis, month-end close activities, balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, maintain policies and procedures and provide back-up for other functions within the Accounting Department.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Originate monthly financial reports and analyses for management including budget variance reporting.

    + Manage and track the corporate credit card process, ensuring cardholder reconciliations are properly approved by managers on a timely basis with all required documentation attached Manage cash and investment account monthly reconciliations.

    + Manage and reconcile monthly insurance coverages.

    + Manage fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules.

    + Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly.

    + Assist with annual financial audit and tax filings and provide support during audit fieldwork

    + Assist with annual budget creation.

    + Document and maintain finance policies and procedures.

    + Coordinate year-end tax forms and filings

    + Other duties as assigned by Controller

    + Identify process improvement opportunities and collaborate with others to design and implement solutions.

    + Maintain carefully organized files of the company's financial records in accordance with the document retention policy

    + Maintain required job knowledge and skills and core professional competencies. Attend and participate in required professional development programs and staff meetings.

    Requirements

    Position Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and at least three (3) years of accounting experience required.

    + Preference for candidates with nonprofit accounting experience with appropriate knowledge of tax laws and related issues and regulations for 501(c)(3) organizations, including federal and state filings and sound internal controls.

    + Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

    + Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft products, Google Suite and accounting systems such as QuickBooks.

    + Good written and verbal communications skills.

    + Strong ability to lead by example, foster a positive work environment and model core values.

    + Self-directed with strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
