Description We are looking for an experienced Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team in Westerville, Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for managing insurance and pre-collection requirements, communicating patient financial obligations, and overseeing accounts receivable processes. This is a long-term contract position offering the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility for scheduled medical procedures.
• Utilize pricing tools and insurance portals to calculate patient financial responsibility and provide accurate estimates.
• Ensure timely completion of good faith estimates in compliance with required timeframes.
• Communicate payment plans and financial obligations to patients in a meticulous and respectful manner.
• Establish down payment and payment plan requirements for elective procedures.
• Process patient accounts efficiently to minimize receivables and bad debts.
• Monitor and enforce adherence to payment plans, addressing delinquent accounts as necessary.
• Coordinate with external collection agencies for unresolved accounts and manage bankruptcy or deceased patient cases.
• Provide exceptional customer service by resolving patient concerns with care and attention.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support department objectives. Requirements • Proven experience in accounts receivable, cash applications, and medical billing functions.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT codes, HCPCS coding, and healthcare billing processes.
• Familiarity with financial responsibility communication and patient account management.
• Expertise in handling collections, including commercial and medical collections.
• Ability to utilize healthcare billing systems and tools effectively.
• Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging situations professionally.
• Knowledge of physician practice billing and coding is preferred.
