We are looking for you to join our team as a **Labor Relations & Human Resources Business Partner** based out of **Sunnyvale, CA** .
The Labor Relations (LR) Team (part of the broader Human Resources organization) at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a candidate to join a growing community of committed LR professionals in Sunnyvale, California. The selected candidate will have ownership for providing LR/HR Business Partner Support to our Manufacturing/Production Operations organization. The selected candidate will partner with the LR Team and operations leadership on the implementation of LR strategy, data analytics, administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), CBA negotiations, other areas as a LR subject matter expert. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership and relationship building skills, data analytic skills, a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Skillful verbal and written communication talents are required, and the ideal candidate will have prior success building or enhancing a collaborative, supportive and understanding work environment in a unionized setting, and the ability to work with difficult individuals. The successful candidate will demonstrate how they have supported their prior teams through organization, self-motivation, and task ownership skills, with the ability to accomplish complex duties in a high-impact, time sensitive environment.
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
+ Establish intimate understanding of the business, build and expand relationships with client leadership teams, and create close partnerships across the organizations
+ Maintain credibility as a subject matter expert in the applicable collective bargaining agreements in effect at the site and ensure compliance in all aspects of contract administration
+ Proactively maintain collaborative relationships with Union leaders
+ Investigate employee related issues
+ Partner with LR Managers in investigating and closing out grievances within assigned area
+ Identify training needs and partner with management and the LR team to develop and deliver training as required
+ Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the organization and develop solutions in partnership with leadership.
+ Advise leadership on new ideas and winning practices in the areas of talent acquisition, assessment, development, compensation, organizational effectiveness, strategy, on-boarding, change management and communication
+ Analyze and concisely present information to the management team to enable business growth and sound decision making
+ Provide business insight through data analysis, research, and benchmarking
+ Play a key change leadership role in the company’s transformation by reinforcing a culture of growth, innovation and calculated risk taking through the application of human capital strategy, tools and processes
+ Support and enable leaders to make informed decisions about talent and to hold their organizations accountable for business results
This position requires the ability to relate to a unionized touch labor workforce, union leadership, as well as executive senior leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a track record of leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to realize results in an environment of ambiguity.
Candidate may be required to travel up to 10% of time for domestic business, sometimes with short notice.
The ideal candidate will possess:
+ Proficient verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and influence others.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
+ The ability to support the business and HR team with minimal task supervision, utilizing relationships to ensure alignment with organizational priorities
+ Proven ability to challenge and push back when working with difficult people or tough client group leaders
+ Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to be flexible and adjust direction when needed
+ Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects to completion including organizing, planning, scheduling and following up on all project related items
This position may be filled at the Principal (level 3) or Sr. Principal (level 4) level, depending on experience.
**Basic Qualifications for the Principal Labor Relations & Human Resources Business Partner** :
+ Bachelor's degree in Industrial Labor Relations, Human Resource management, Business, Organization Development, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or closely related with a minimum of 5 years of experience in LR/HR or related field, OR a Master's degree with 3 or more years of related experience in LR/HR.
+ Experience working in a Unionized environment and an understanding of applicable NLRB practices and policies.
+ Proven experience in being proactive in building relationship with leaders as well as touch labor employees
+ US Citizenship required
**Basic Qualifications for the Sr. Principal Labor Relations & Human Resources Business Partner** :
+ Bachelor's degree in Industrial Labor Relations, Human Resource management, Business, Organization Development, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or closely related with a minimum of 8 years of experience in LR/HR or related field, OR a Master's degree with 6 or more years of related experience in LR/HR.
+ Experience working in a Unionized environment and an understanding of applicable NLRB practices and policies.
+ Proven experience in being proactive in building relationship with leaders as well as touch labor employees
+ US Citizenship required
**Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels** :
+ Experience as a labor relations professional, responsible for maintaining relationships with Union officials
+ Change management experience
+ Experience with HRIS platforms and technology, with preferred application experience in Workday
+ Experience in proactive HR assessment, diagnosis and solutioning of business challenges
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Salary Range: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00Salary Range 2: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
