    Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an excellent opportunity for a Staff Engineer Systems – SE&V Engineering Project Manager (25-315) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. This position, based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

     

    Relocation assistance is not available for this position, and this role is on-site with no remote options.

    Position Overview:

    The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control designated networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability that provides an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Moreover, C2BMC is a crucial component of all system ground and flight tests, which verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system.

     

    Lead the SE&V team in ensuring the program meets all technical requirements. Collaborate with the Chief Architect to develop the Technical Solution Baseline and the overall system architecture. Maintain the Technical Solution Baseline and its technical integrity and ensure the entire system architecture remains intact. Understand the technical impact of changes to the baseline throughout the lifecycle and communicate approved changes to the program. Guide the derivation and breakdown of system requirements and assign requirements to the Agile Release Trains (ART) / Resource Managed Organizations (RMA).

    Essential Functions:

    + Serve as the primary interface for requirements that cross organizational boundaries and reallocate requirements as necessary

    + Manage system requirements, ensure compliance throughout the lifecycle, and maintain requirements integrity

    + Perform technical integration of ARTs/RMAs by facilitating technical cross-communication among ARTs/RMAs and identifying, adjudicating, and resolving technical issues across ARTs/RMAs

    + Be responsible for the technical content, cost, and schedule associated with the SE&V activities

    + Evaluate alternative solutions and weigh their cost, schedule, and technical impact

    + Lead the team in developing and governing technical plans, including but not limited to:

    + Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)

    + System Integration Plan

    + Software Development Plan

    + Hardware Development Plan

    + Manage and report on technical metrics

    + Create, execute, and maintain the SE&V Charter

    + Be responsible for the Control Accounts owned by SE&V

    + Manage risks and opportunities at the SE&V level

    + Detailed domain knowledge and experience, especially in the area of Command and Control, Battle Management, and/or Missile Defense Systems

    + Must have excellent oral and written communication skills—proven ability to communicate well with peers and different levels of management

    + Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally

    + Demonstrated experience in motivating, inspiring, and teaching others to accomplish program objectives

     

    Salary range in Huntsville: $163,200 - $244,800

     

    Salary range in Colorado Springs: $155,400 - $233,200

    Basic Qualifications:

    Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

     

    + A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM fields such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics from an accredited university is preferred, along with 12 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related STEM field with 10 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 8 years of relevant work experience

    + Applicants must possess a current, active in-scope DoD-issued **Secret** security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance

    + Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% to support development sites, and possibly testing and operations sites, are required. Primary travel will be between Colorado Springs, CO, and Huntsville, AL

    + Thorough knowledge and understanding of systems engineering processes, architecture development, product development, and integration & test

    + Proven ability to provide clear guidance and direction to the team and to prioritize competing requirements

    + experience with the application and implementation of Digital Transformation processes and tools

    + In-depth understanding of Earned Value Management ( **EVM** )

    + Experience with **Agile** Development Processes and tools (e.g., **Jira, Agility, Confluence** )

    + Experience with C2BMC and/or the Missile Defense Systems/Agency Project management and/or agile process certification

    + Experience with Model-Based System Engineering ( **MBSE** )

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Having a current and active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application is highly preferred

    + **Master's Degree** in Systems Engineering

    + **Graduate Certificate:** Model-Based Systems Engineering (Ex, Stevens, Caltech, UCSD, USC, GWU, INCOSE cohort, etc.)

    + **Certification:** INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification

    + **Certification:** Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Intermediate (OCSMP - MBI)

    Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

    Salary Range: $155,400.00 - $244,800.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
