    Plating Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and results-driven Plating Engineer to oversee and enhance the plating processes within our production facility. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in electroplating, chemical processes, and surface treatment technologies, along with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency in our operations.

    Responsibilities

    + Design, implement, and continuously improve electroplating and surface treatment methods for metals such as steel and aluminum.

    + Collaborate with sales, quality, and production teams to ensure plating processes align with customer specifications and industry standards.

    + Investigate plating issues, determine root causes, and apply corrective actions to maintain product quality.

    + Monitor and control plating bath chemistry, temperature, and operational parameters to ensure consistency and quality.

    + Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

    + Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall plating performance.

    + Provide technical support and training to production staff on plating techniques and equipment usage.

    + Maintain accurate records of procedures, process changes, and quality control metrics.

    + Serve as a process trainer for onboarding and upskilling team members when needed.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

    + Proven experience as a Plating Engineer, Process Engineer, Lab Manager, or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

    + Strong knowledge of plating techniques, surface treatment processes, and related technologies.

    + Familiarity with plating equipment, including electroplating baths, tanks, and controllers.

    + Experience with plating materials such as gold, silver, nickel, copper, and zinc is preferred.

    + Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot plating issues effectively.

    + Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

    + Knowledge of industry standards and regulations regarding plating processes, safety, and environmental concerns.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Knowledge of advanced plating techniques like electroless plating, PVD, or CVD.

    + Knowledge and experience with Anodizing and Masking processes.

    + Familiarity with quality control tools and data analysis techniques.

    + Experience with CAD software or other engineering design tools.

    + Knowledge/experience with OSHA, ISO/IEC.

    + Knowledge/experience with Chemical Laboratory Management.

    + Knowledge/experience with basic plating facility maintenance.

    + Knowledge/experience with Lean Six Sigma Methodologies (Six Sigma certification is a plus).

    + Data-driven decision-making.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is technically rigorous, fast-moving, and compliance-heavy, featuring a mix of tight-knit leadership and operational intensity. The position is Monday to Friday, first shift, with a dynamic pace and supportive team culture. While some employees thrive in this environment, others have noted challenges around stress, advancement, and internal dynamics. Local candidates are preferred, but relocation assistance may be offered.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
