Job Title: ChemistJob Description
The ICP Chemist is responsible for producing accurate and timely analysis of specified samples using defined methods and procedures, supporting sales, material management, and production efforts.
Responsibilities
+ Perform analyses according to assigned written procedures, managing several concurrent analyses and striving to exceed accuracy and performance measures.
+ Closely examine sample quality and labeling, bringing any deviation to the attention of the manager and suggesting corrective actions.
+ Prepare and review assays in specified form for managerial approval.
+ Review equipment calibration status and correct as necessary.
+ Review laboratory data for completeness and accuracy.
+ Perform and support method development activities.
+ Participate in shift changeovers, communicating the status of all analyses and pending work.
+ Participate in and assist with generating method, equipment, quality, procedure, and other training as provided by the laboratory.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related Scientific field.
+ 1+ year of experience, or a 2-year degree in a Scientific field with 2+ years of experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor in Chemistry or related field preferred.
+ Experience in wet chemical analysis and precious metals analysis preferred.
+ Experience in general preparation and instrumental methods such as ICP, ICP-MS, Acid/Base Titrations, and XRF preferred.
+ Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of the organization.
+ Ability to understand concepts involving statistics, probabilities, formula manipulation, and perform basic calculations on volume, mass, atomic percentages, weight percentages, density, molecular weight of alloys and compounds, and charge weights.
Work Environment
The position is based in an on-site temperature-regulated laboratory/manufacturing environment. The shift options include either the second shift from 2 pm to 12:30 am or the third shift from 10 pm to 8:30 am. The role involves occasional standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, talking or hearing, tasting or smelling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.05/hr.
