    The mission of Southern University and A&M College, an Historically Black, 1890 land-grant institution, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is to provide a student-focused teaching and learning environment that creates global leadership opportunities for a diverse student population where teaching, research, service, scholarly and creative expectations for students and faculty are achieved through the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs offered at the institution via different instructional modalities and via public service.

     

    This position maintains the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of university campus buildings and is located at the Residential Life & Housing Department.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    + Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.

    + Empties and decontaminates trash containers.

    + Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.

    + Mixes or blends cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.

    + Strips, cleans, and polishes floors using industrial-grade machines.

    + Follows procedures for disposing of infectious waste.

    + Maintains custodial equipment; reports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.

    Position-Specific Details:

    Appointment Type: Probational

    Compensation: The starting salary is $ 10.70/hour.
