    The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

     

    We are seeking a dedicated Facility Maintenance Manager t o manage construction, maintenance, and repair activities at one or more facilities.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Five years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR

     

    Completion of a two-year training program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus three years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR

     

    Eighteen semester hours in a construction field or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    As a Facility Maintenance Manager, you will s upervise and direct subordinate employees in the overall maintenance/preventative maintenance, general repair and renovation activities of the facility.

    In this role, you will also:

    + Delegate and supervise job duties for complex building system functions and assure operability of the system through coordination with subordinate and contract personnel.

    + Provide supervision and broad direction for the maintenance and repair of all facility utilities. Includes oversight and operation of Energy and Automation Management systems.

    + Prepare and review construction/maintenance documents and expenditures for contracts, projects, and RFP's. Approve purchasing requests up to approved limits.

    + Provide and prepare documentation for deficiency reports on state contracts, and projects for review and/or discipline to other state agencies.

    + Supervise and delegate job duties for subordinate personnel and project contractors in the maintenance, repair and renovations of all facilities.

    + Direct purchasing and requisitioning of adequate inventories of supplies, materials and equipment.

    + Maintain records incidental to all activities of the facility.

    + Review and evaluate subordinate personnel performance.

    + Prepare facility related information and reports for justifications for all expenditures and manpower. Review and evaluate contractors and vendors performance for justification of expenditures and manpower cost.

    + Advise and recommend to agency management the maintenance, repair and renovation issues requiring significant staffing and monetary impacts. Include recommendations for contractor and RFP issues.

    + Prepare, review and provide recommendations for annual budget for Maintenance Sections. Includes documentation for cost for all contract, vendor and RFP's requirements and mandates.

    + Consult with other state agencies, directors, architects, project managers, contractors and contract engineers.

    + Serve as necessary on committees and act as a consultant to other committees for facility related matters.

    + Implement and direct training and safety programs for all subordinate personnel. Includes training and safety programs for contractors and vendors personnel in state facilities.

    + Prepare and review service, construction, vendor and RFP contracts and advise agency management on contract specifications and plans.

    + Advise and/or respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis as required.

    + Plan, supervise and delegate job duties for all landscaping of facility grounds. Includes direction over contractor and vendor personnel assigned to facility grounds.

    + Conduct maintenance, construction and vendor meetings for facility related problems, issues and concerns as needed.

    + Direct other sections such as boiler plant, housekeeping, security, laundry and motor pool as needed.

    This position is located in the Maintenance Department of the Northeast LA Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana.
