Amentum seeks a Director of Business Group Marketing & Communications.

Amentum, a global leader in defense, national security, space, energy, and intelligence, is looking for a dynamic director to lead all aspects of marketing and communications for one of its growing business groups.
The **Director of Business Group Marketing and Communications (Marcom)** has full-spectrum leadership for the function, including marketing and communications strategy, executive communications, media relations and crisis management, advertising, events and sponsorships, content development, internal communications and employee engagement, social media, and community relations. The Business Group Marcom Director also serves on the company's Marcom Leadership Team, helping shape enterprise-wide communications strategy and execution. **This role can be U.S. remote-telework or hybrid but will be required to collaborate and engage with Corporate and business leaders across the Northern Virginia area, the U.S. and strategic global regions. US Citizenship is required.**
Amentum’s business group is a multi-billion-dollar business that provides engineering, space solutions, systems development and modernization, and training to the U.S. government and commercial companies around the world.
The role reports to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and matrixed to the President of the business group.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications and Messaging
+ Develop and execute a business group marketing and communications strategy that is purposeful, and comprehensive, and drives business objectives, ensuring alignment with corporate brand and priorities.
+ Provide strategic marketing and communications counsel to the Business Group President and leadership team on marketing, employee engagement and external communications. This includes anticipating and identifying challenges and emerging issues that may affect the business’s reputation and proactively developing strategies to address them.
+ Draw on the collective expertise of the Amentum Marketing and Communications team to ensure a coordinated communications approach, resulting in solid business group marcom execution and consistent brand experience across the enterprise.
Marketing & Driving Growth
+ Oversee the development and execution of marketing communications strategy to deliver on the business group’s financial commitments and long-term goals of sustained, profitable growth and market leadership in targeted markets.
+ Develop compelling stories and content around the business group’s teams and expertise to achieve positive exposure through omni-channel marketing, including digital campaigns, advertising, sponsorships, tradeshows, and events.
+ Partner with the business group’s Business Development teams and business line leaders on campaigns to position the team to win recompetes and key pursuits, and strategically open new markets for growth.
+ As part of the brand and marketing strategy, partner with HR/Talent Acquisition to develop and implement a recruitment marketing strategy and targeted campaigns to help attract new talent across a variety of geographies and skill sets.
Public Relations & Reputation Management
+ Direct the development and implementation of an effective media relations program aligned with overall Amentum messaging to convey its strategic themes and differentiating capabilities to a broad audience.
+ Build and nurture trusted relationships with key business group external stakeholders, including trade publications, associations, and community partners.
+ Continue to enhance the business group's presence and engagement with digital tools, including the company website and a range of social media platforms.
Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
+ Using multiple employee communication channels, develop and execute a comprehensive business group internal communication strategy that supports the business group’s goals and aligns with the company’s vision, mission, and values.
+ Promote the business group’s stories and successes to the broader Amentum employee population and bring better awareness of the group’s capabilities and expertise internally.
+ Collaborate with Business Group President, HR lead and other business leaders to recognize employee achievements, celebrate milestones, and enhance job satisfaction.
+ Drive the business groups’ community investment program, including corporate sponsorship, charitable giving, community relations, and compliance with all corporate policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ US Citizenship is required to apply.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree is preferred.
+ Typically, 15 years of experience in corporate communications or a related field with at least 3 years leading marketing/communications, working with executives and working as part of a Marketing and Communications leadership team.
+ Proven experience developing and executing successful marketing and communication programs for a business unit within large, complex organizations.
+ Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams across various levels of the organization.
+ Expertise in utilizing digital communication tools, internal social platforms, and employee engagement software.
+ Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset, able to balance both long-term objectives and day-to-day operational needs.
