    Position Description:

    General Medicine APP will conduct comprehensive physical assessments and formulate plans of care. They order and

     

    interpret diagnostic tests. They treat chronic and acute health issues.

    Major/Essential Functions:

    + May review labs, medications, and health issues while completing a full examination. Health maintenance reminders.

    + Responsibilities may included reviewing charts, seeing patients and families at clinic visits, writing orders and notes with independent billing, and reviewing post-visit labs with follow-up while keeping a consistent plan of care.

    + Elicits records and interprets a complete health history including all Gastroenterology, past Medical Family and psycho-social aspects. Performs a complete adult physical examination, assessment, distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings.

    + Orders Tests and procedures as necessary. Consults with the attending or resident physicians prior to initiation of major procedure or plan. Writes admissions, discharges and medical orders.

    + Formulates a care plan of care based on physical exam or other data and implements.

    + Performs Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as necessary. Other duties as assigned.

    + Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.

    + Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).

    + Personally demonstrate, display and act in accordance with TTUHSC EP's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.

    + Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association

    + Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer licensee to Texas

    + Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing

    + Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas
