ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN FINANCE BOARD
The New York City Campaign Finance Board manages New York City’s small donor democracy program and educates and engages voters via NYC Votes. The CFB has enjoyed a tremendous arc of progress over its 30-year history, and our updated flagship small donor democracy program is the centerpiece of this progress.
We eliminate barriers to participation by providing access to the resources New Yorkers need to vote or run for office and amplify the voices of small donors with New York City’s small donor democracy program.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Marketing and Digital Communications unit leads the top-level marketing and communications strategy for the CFB and creates the strategy for all public-facing materials that directly engage and serve the needs of five million New Yorkers in thirteen languages through the agency’s voter engagement initiative, NYC Votes.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The NYC Campaign Finance Board is seeking a Web Content Editor to manage and elevate the content and user experience on its public-facing websites: nycvotes.org and nyccfb.info. These websites are essential resources for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers (if not more!), providing essential information to voters ahead of elections about voting and candidates they can't find anywhere else. Join a growing team of content experts working across a variety of channels from social and video to long form writing and design. This role is ideal for a strategic and creative digital communicator passionate about civic engagement, accessibility, and public service.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage and maintain all web content across NYC Votes and CFB websites.
- Manage updates to the online Voter Guide and ensure accuracy for each election cycle.
- Write, edit, and optimize content in plain language for diverse audiences.
- Collaborate on UI/UX improvements and accessibility audits (WCAG compliance).
- Use SEO and analytics tools to assess content performance and improve visibility.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align content with strategic goals.

Knowledge
- Understanding of content strategy, web publishing, and digital communication best practices
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards, particularly WCAG compliance
- Familiarity with SEO principles and structured content organization
- Working knowledge of analytics tools to assess and improve content performance
- Awareness of UI/UX principles for web usability and user-centered design
Abilities
- Ability to manage and maintain content across multiple websites and platforms
- Ability to write and edit web content in plain language for diverse and multilingual audiences
- Ability to oversee updates to the online Voter Guide and ensure accuracy for each election cycle
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including technical and design staff
- Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align content with strategic goals
- Ability to spot and correct content errors with strong attention to detail
Skills
- Excellent written communication and editing skills
- Experience with web content management systems (CMS), such as Umbraco or WordPress
- Experience using SEO and analytics tools to evaluate content performance
- Experience participating in accessibility audits and implementing WCAG standards
- Light technical troubleshooting, including basic HTML/CSS editing
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, website development, or related field
- 1–2 years of experience in website management, digital content editing, or a similar role
- Experience working with analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics)
- Comfort working with structured content and metadata in a CMS
- Familiarity with New York City government or civic engagement is a plus

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by at least twelve-semester credits (or the equivalent of twelve-semester credits) in accounting, auditing, business or public administration, computer science, economics, finance, statistics, graphic design, personnel or human resources administration, user experience design, or a closely related area of study and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in accounting, auditing (including compliance or investigative auditing), business or public administration, business analysis, computer science, database administration, economics, finance, fiscal or economic management or research, statistics, graphic design, personnel or human resources administration, user experience design, or a closely related field; or
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in “1” above; or
Education and/or experience equivalent to “1” above.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by at least 12 credits in one or more areas relevant to the duties described above, and one year of satisfactory full-time experience relevant to the duties described above; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above.
