Attention Supervisors of Operating Room Assistants!
The Danbury Hospital has a rare opportunity for an EXERIENCED Operating Room Assistant Supervisor to lead the evening/night shifts. MUST have 3+ years experience as an ORA AND previous supervisory or management experience. This is an opportunity to join a Nationally recognized Operating Room team. Monday- Thursday 3pm-1130pm, Friday Noon- 830pm, variable shifts. Pay based on Full Years of experience and ranges from $28.78/hour plus shift differentials.
Summary:
Reporting into the Manager Operating Room, this position assists with the supervisionof delivery of care functions such as; but not limited to: patient, supply and specimentransport, maintenance and in between case as well as terminal cleaning of equipmentand operating rooms. Inventory, stocking, ordering and cleaning of anesthesia supplies and equipment. Oversee maintenance of all equipment used within the Operating Rooms. Responsible forstaffing schedules and assignments of ORAs/Cleaning Technicians and AnesthesiaTechs to maintain an efficient work flow. Mentors and assists with the interviewing,selection, education/training, evaluates and discipline of ORAs/Cleaning Technicians andAnesthesia Techs.
Responsibilities:
1.Responsible for the consistent stocking of all supply areas including but not limited to scrub sinks,blanket/fluid warmers, non-specialty carts, housekeeping/room turnover supplies, ordering/stocking ofanesthesia materials, drugs, and supplies required for a 24/7/365 scheduled department.
2.Ensures operating rooms and anesthetizing locations are stocked with appropriate anesthesia materials, drugs, and supplies. Ensures all equipment and materials are readily available for procedures including ensuring that
gas cylinders are replaced as necessary, and that all medications are stored securely and safely. Overseas therotation of stock and checks for outdates to ensure expired product is not utilized.
3. Interviews, selects, orients, delegates, trains, counsels, evaluates and disciplines all employees in thedepartment to ensure that the highest standards of AORN practices and recommendations, department and
organization policies, and accrediting and licensing agencies are followed. Educates, mentors, and hasresponsibility to oversee ORAs and Anesthesia Techs perform all job duties, roles, responsibilities,
expectations, and compliance with department and organizational policies and procedures.
4.When necessary, performs manual and physical duties of an ORA and/or Anesthesia Technician.
5.Maintains department tracking of ORA and Anesthesia Technician roles and responsibilities being performedas well as documented evidence of effective OR room turnover cleaning and terminal cleaning.
6.Prepares work assignments and schedules employees to ensure effective coverage of the department.Conducts staff meetings and training sessions.
7.Oversees Patient Transports including transportation of patients to and from Surgical Services areas. Ensurespatient safety. Reports any patient complaints to leadership. Oversees that ORAs and Anesthesia Techs
assist nursing with transferring patients to and from the operating room bed and that they assist in a timelymanner of transferring and positioning surgery patients. Overseas that there is timely transporting ofspecimens to the laboratory, unit errands and that X-rays, nourishment and linen are ordered daily.
8.Responsible for Specialty Tables and specific procedures equipment. Reports malfunctions or brokenequipment to the manager or charge nurse in a timely manner. Oversees that all equipment is cleaned and
returned to respective location after use. Ensures ORA's/Cleaning Technicians and Anesthesia Techsmaintain equipment and storage rooms in an organized and efficient manner to protect equipment and toensure that it is readily available and stored properly in the correct location.
9. Oversee day to day operations within span of equipment management, anticipating the needs for given cases, and ensuring that operations are efficient, compliant, safe and of the highest possible quality. Collaborates with Biomed to track equipment care and maintenance to ensure proper functioning. Collaborates with Surgical Coordinators to assure functioning and availability of equipment. Functions as a liaison with vendors regarding the management and maintenance of equipment.
9.Ensures that ORAs and Anesthesia Techs exhibit a positive performance behavior and that they are engaged,and supportive. Serves as a positive role model for ORA's/Cleaning Technicians and Anesthesia Techs.
Perform other job related duties as assigned by Director.
10.Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
11.Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Information:
High School Diploma and minimum of five years job-related experience.
License:CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
Required Skills:Previous experience in a supervisory position.
Criteria Desired (Not Required):Previous experience working with patients in an acute care setting is preferred.
