    Who We Are

     

    The Director of Support Services leads strategic planning and the operations and support of the information systems and their functions within a moderately complex IT environment. Including management of the day-to-day operations involving networking, system administration, internal and audio-visual infrastructure, technical communications, and event scheduling. Additional duties include directing and leading operations focused on IT environment security, communications, and desktop support, including management of a desktop supervisor. Directing development, implementation, and compliance with information technology policy and IT environment standards. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and provides IT strategy, plans, projects, performance, and other IT environment essentials.

    Responsibilities*

    Director's Responsibilities - 50%

    + Lead strategic planning and daily operations for the IT environment, identifying opportunities for improvement and aligning with best practices.

    + Collaborate with the CIO and other directors to shape infrastructure strategy, evaluate service outcomes, and plan for growth.

    + Manage the operational IT environment, including resource assessment, hiring, performance management, and professional development.

    + Manage operating and capital budgets for hardware and software infrastructure; forecast future expenditures with the CIO.

    + Oversee the lifecycle strategy for Digital Studios and support equipment, including maintenance and future planning.

    + Lead projects requiring technical oversight, vendor coordination, procurement (RFPs, sole source, DPAs), and alignment with university guidelines.

    + Provide leadership for IT service delivery related to data processing, automated office systems, and communications, with a focus on security, customer outcomes, and university alignment.

    Manage the Desktop Support Supervisor and Team - 15%

    + Supervise the Desktop Support Supervisor and provide leadership for the desktop support team and walk-up center.

    + Collaborate on best practices, processes, and policies to support information systems goals.

    + Oversee support resource planning, including personnel, equipment, and software.

    + Guide service delivery, performance monitoring, and ensure adherence to security protocols.

    + Oversee tracking, maintenance, and budgeting for desktop, AV, and infrastructure assets.

    Manage AV Infrastructure - 15%

    + Lead strategy, implementation, and support for AV technologies and staff.

    + Partner with faculty, staff, and IT leadership to provide solutions aligned with instructional and business needs.

    + Ensure AV infrastructure- including classrooms, boardrooms, displays, and system upgrades- is maintained and aligned with lifecycle standards.

    Manage the System** **Administrator Team - 10%

    + Supervise system administrators responsible for server infrastructure (Windows, Linux), firewalls, and cloud services.

    + Direct standard operating procedures, change management, and maintenance protocols.

    + Ensure data center and desktop infrastructure are secure, patched, and aligned with current best practices.

    + Lead infrastructure projects and initiatives.

    Manage Communications and Training - 5%

    + Oversee timely and effective communication of IT updates, outages, and service issues to the community.

    + Direct training strategies to support faculty and staff in adopting new technologies and tools.

    Security - 5%

    + Direct implementation of infrastructure security best practices, including disaster recovery planning and testing.

    + Maintain a security strategy aligned with university standards; identify and address vulnerabilities.

    + Ensure Ross infrastructure complies with institutional security requirements.

    + Support Executive Education clients with IT documentation and procedural needs for onsite program delivery.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology

    + Minimum of 7+ years of experience leading IT operations, system administration, security, and technical training and communication efforts.

    + Supervisory experience managing IT teams in a flexible, fast-paced, and changing environment, along with supervisory experience overseeing a customarily recognized department or sub-division.

    + Experience managing security and compliance best practices.

    + Strong project management skills, including relevant experiences that are reflective of the ability to direct or manage multiple complex projects, small to large, within an IT cross-functional environment.

    Additional Information

    Salary Information:

    The posting range for this position is $103,200 - $145,300. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
