    Biweekly Hours: 60.00

     

    Shift: 7:30a - 6:00p, three ten hour shifts, variable days

     

    Primary Patient Population: Lymphedema Patients

    Join the Outpatient Physical Therapy department at MetroHealth!

    _Primary skills utilized/learned:_

    + Evaluates and treats patients by physical measures and the use of therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation procedures (with or without assistive devices) for the purpose of preventing, correcting, or alleviating disabilities.

    + Patients may include neonates through the geriatric population.

    + Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

    _Required Qualifications:_

    + Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or post-graduate certificate in Physical Therapy from a school accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)

    + Holds a Physical Therapist licensure in the State of Ohio Possesses current BLS certification, or obtains within 90 days of hire

    + Ability to travel to satellite locations.

    _Preferred Qualifications:_

    + Membership in the APTA

    + Holds active certification as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT)

    _Physical Requirements:_

    + Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling during ambulation and/or gait training.

    + Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm or leg during exercise program.

    + Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient’s pulse.

    + Visual acuity to observe patient’s gross movement, gait, etc., in order to analyze biomechanical problems.

    + Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families who may not be able to read.

    + Ability to hear or understand patient’s description of symptoms and response to treatment.

    + Frequently (25-75% of the time) performed tasks: Standing, sitting with and without back support, walking, reaching (overhead, forward, lateral, and low), crouching, balancing, lifting 5-25 pounds, carrying 5-10 pounds, and pushing up to 75 pounds

    + Occasionally (5-25% of the time) performed tasks: Stooping, climbing, lifting or moving 24-50 pounds, carrying 10-25 pounds, and operating power tools and machinery
