The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany's Rockefeller College is seeking a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill an in-person Senior Research Support Specialist position in PDP's Early Childhood Education and Training Program in Rensselaer, NY.
Description of Duties:
The Senior Research Support Specialist position supports the data collection, analysis, and reporting needs of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Division of Child Care Services (DCCS), which is responsible for the Child Care Assistance Program, licensing of child care providers, and many contract initiatives. This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to senior staff to support the operational needs of DCCS by drawing upon existing data sources as well as developing new data collection strategies to address current and emerging data, analytical, and reporting priorities. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
+ Developing recommendations and identifying appropriate research methodologies, test procedures, data collection strategies, and research tools for assigned projects.
+ Conducting statistical analysis of data, as needed.
+ Communicating data needs and reporting requirements to key staff, such as local district staff, program staff, and agency systems support staff.
+ Assisting with the development of surveys, data collection tools, data analysis, and presentation of results.
+ Preparing technical reports and presentations.
+ Preparing data sets of varying sizes and complexity, including merging, unduplicating and aggregating data.
+ Interacting with policy and program specialists.
+ Providing technical assistance to ensure accurate data for analysis and reporting purposes.
+ Responding to research needs identified by the sponsor.
+ Other duties as assigned to meet contractual obligations.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization and three years of experience analyzing data using advanced statistical methods and producing statistical samples utilizing several universe sources OR a master's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization and two years of experience analyzing data using advanced statistical methods and producing statistical samples utilizing several universe sources.
+ Experience writing technical reports that present research results and methodologies.
+ Proficiency in database management and analysis using SPSS, Visual Basic, Cognos, and Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) and virtual conference applications including Zoom, Webex.
+ Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with a team.
+ Demonstrated ability to summarize and explain technical analyses to all types of audiences.
+ Ability to travel throughout NYS to attend meetings, present reports, and conduct field technical assistance, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in the social sciences, public policy, statistics, data science, or in a related field.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $75,000 - $77,658 (annual)
