    Description

    SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:Reporting to the Director of EOF; the part-time EOF Advisor will assist in the development of programming and workshops while focusing on delivering a holistic advising experience inclusive of academic, financial, career, and transfer advising.

     

    This is a grant funded position with funding available through 6/30/2026.

     

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Provide holistic academic, career, transfer, financial, and personal advisement for an assigned EOF student caseload. Refer students to appropriate on and off campus resources, when necessary.

    + Monitor and track EOF students' academic performance and progress in college data management systems to maintain student information, advisement contacts, referrals, and program data, as well as prepare data for quarter and annual reports, as needed.

    + Work closely with the Assistant Director and Director to contribute to the design, coordination and implementation of effective strategies to assist with EOF student persistence and retention efforts.

    + Develop and facilitate student leadership and empowerment initiatives to support personal development, leadership development, and development of academic behaviors that enhance student success.

    + Identify and facilitate various workshops to enhance EOF student persistence, retention and graduation.

    + Assist with recruitment efforts at both on- and off-campus locations; some evenings and weekends may be required.

    + Maintain a working knowledge of all type of financial aid available to students, and the rules and regulations governing them.

    + Attend training programs and serve on campus-wide committees as required.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.

    OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:

    The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education Required:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Higher Education or a related discipline. Master’s Degree preferred. Years of experience will be considered in lieu of education level.

    Experience Required:

    At least two years of professional experience in college level academic advising, career advising, financial advising and/or related field.

    Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:

    + Demonstrated competency working effectively with diverse student populations including students from low socio-economic backgrounds and/or first-generation college students

    + Demonstrated ability to advise and effectively handle student crisis situations (e.g., death of a loved one, homelessness, depression, etc.).

    + Superior interpersonal and written communication skills.

    + Ability to adapt to and promote the mission of a comprehensive community college.

    + Demonstrated proficiency in use of computers and diverse databases.

    + Demonstrated ability to work as a productive member of a high-performing team.

    + Experience working with an ethnically diverse population is desirable.

     

    Additional Information

    INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:

    Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
