The Anesthesiology Resident TP* participates in structured programs to develop skills in the specialized area of anesthesiology and gain core competencies as prescribed.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

+ Receives a focused experience in regional anesthesia during the block rotation.

+ Evaluates patient’s therapeutic plan under the supervision of senior residents and attending staff.

+ Assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications.

+ Starts IV’s and draws arterial and venous blood gases independently.

+ Places central lines, arterial catheters, and chest tubes.

+ Facilitates attending physician’s decisions regarding invasive procedures prior to initiation.

+ Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra, and post anesthesia.

+ Takes into consideration age-specific issues to meet the needs of various patient groups.

+ Maintains quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

+ Documents and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records.

+ Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings, and in-services.

+ Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

+ M.D., D.O., or comparable degree in relevant field

+ Certification in relevant specialty or field

+ Minimum 2 years of experience

+ Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

+ Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

+ Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

+ Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

+ Commitment to the University’s core values.
