    Required Skills:

    Production Engineer Responsibilities:

    1. Develop a strong understanding of Meta’s Video Infrastructure (VI), product surfaces, codebase, services and systems supporting VI and their core dependencies.

    2. Demonstrate software engineering proficiency including design, analysis, programming.

    3. Produce high quality code using modern abstractions and frameworks.

    4. Demonstrate strong production engineering practices including testing, test coverage, config and change safety, service reliability, load testing, resource/capacity management, overload protection, defining service level objectives, continuous integration and deployment, program instrumentation, network analysis and optimization.

    5. Apply these practices in Video Infra domain covering ingest, processing, storage and egress.

    6. Apply engineering and AI practices to Video Infra AI training and testability, ML workflows, improving service deployment and reliability, solving backend infra distributed systems problems.

    7. Work independently as a production engineer, demonstrate ability to use available resources to solve technical problems and unblock self.

    8. Build and own backlog.

    9. Establish project ownership with clear commitments and timelines.

    10. Deliver tasks on schedule.

    11. Demonstrate strong technical communications.

    12. Communicate plans, progress, pivots with partners and stakeholders.

    13. Collaborate with peers and partners to rootcause and resolve incidents.

    14. Master Meta’s development standards from developing to releasing code in order to take on tasks and projects with increasing levels of complexity.

    15. Actively seek and give feedback in alignment with Meta’s Performance Philosophy.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    16. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, and 1 year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation

    17. Requires 1 year of experience in the following:

    18. 1. Coding in an industry-standard language (e.g. Java, Python, C++, PHP)

    19. 2. *nix (Linux, BSDs, or another UNIX-like OS)

    20. 3. Distributed systems, backend infra, and networking (e.g., consensus models, ingress/egress efficiency, TCP stack, network instrumentation)

    21. 4. Systems engineering practices and tooling (e.g., network packet analysis, filtering, kernel stack, ebpf, tracing)

    Public Compensation:

    $140,960/year to $158,400/year + bonus + equity + benefits
