    Renewables Electrical Designer

     

    Power Engineers, Inc. is seeking a talented CAD designer to work with our renewables substation electrical design team. This individual will work in the Power Delivery Renewables Department based out of our Salt Lake City office. A hybrid and/or in-office work environment is preferred however; a remote role may be considered and is dependent on the individual’s level of experience and proven ability to work remotely.

    Responsibilities

    The Electrical Designer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER’s mission statement and our culture. The Designer is expected to support the group in achieving the goals of the department, maintain POWER’s high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork and meet the needs of our clients. This position is also responsible assisting with developing, maintaining and strengthening client relationships within the region.

     

    + Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage substations including, but not limited to:

    + Station schematics

    + Panel elevation drawings and details

    + Panel wiring diagrams

    + Outdoor equipment wiring diagrams

    + Marshalling cabinet wiring diagrams

    + Control enclosure wiring design

    + Bills of Materials

    + Inter-discipline coordination activities

    + Specify and select substation protection and control equipment

    + Contribute to substation major equipment specifications

    + Construction support

    + Site visits – as required by the project

    + Perform QA/QC for deliverables to clients

    + Support proposal development

    + Support project budgeting, project scheduling and project reporting

    + Support the mentorship and training of other team members

    + Shall understanding and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs

    + Occasional travel

    Required Education/Experience

    + Associates degree or equivalent technical education.

    + 5+ years of substation electrical design experience.

    + Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

    + Electrical reasoning skills and attention to detail.

    + Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.

    + Experience with Bluebeam software.

    + A strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

    + Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

    Desired Education/Experience

    + An understanding of substation equipment and its function

    + Familiarity with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes

    + Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, vendor drawings, and such
